The Women's Metropolis Parka from The North Face features the finest Hungarian goose down feathers to insulate and keep you toasty warm in temperatures as low as the teens. This 600 fill down jacket has an adjustable, snap-off hood perfect for those extra cold, windy days, and it can also be removed for warmer, sunny afternoons. This down jacket provides super-tight insulation with the two-way center front zipper and snap-down closure to prepare you for brisk windy conditions when taking your little companion for a walk around the city. The winter parka provides goose down all the way to your knees and has an internal media pocket for your cell or any other hand-held gadget you simply must have at your fingertips AT ALL TIMES. I heard the idea for this parka came from a girl hopping around in her sleeping bag, too cold to get out of it. So unless you're going for that potato-sack race type look, I suggest you get this jacket.

"Totally what I expected!" 03/21/12
I went to the Moosejaw store in Chicago, and after an hour of looking at stuff in the store and on-line I decided I really wanted this jacket...unfortunately they didn't have my size and had to order me an XS. The employees were SUPER patient and helpful (Aaron and Cole rock!). The Chicago weather has since warmed up so I haven't gotten the chance to sport it yet. However my XS it fits perfectly (I'm 5'3 and 120 lbs), with room to wear a sweater if I choose to. This is my first North Face purchase and definitely not my last.
"perfect fit & very functional!" 03/14/12
Very pleased with my recent purchase of this super warm coat! As a longer down coat, I like the fact that you can upzip it from the bottom (which is nice when in the car, etc) This is not a bulky coat but it keeps you exceptionally warm, not to mention stylish!
"Best parka ever." 03/08/12
I always thought that it was a waste of money just to have "The North Face" symbol on a parka and pay $100+ extra for it. But this parka was definitely worth the money because not only is it simple and stylish, but it KEEPS ME SO WARM! I noticed that the size is a little bit on the larger size when I tried it on in the stores, so I went ahead and ordered a size smaller - You really don't have to wear anything bulky underneath to keep you warm because this keeps you warm plenty enough.
"I just got this amazing coat. I am now hoping for more cold weather!" 03/08/12
I chose the graphite gray and I love it. I have been wanting this coat for awhile so I am happy it went on sale. I am about 5' 2" and 125 lbs. I got the medium because I like to wear sweaters underneath. My guess is that you would never really need a sweater under it because it is so warm. The the coat itself and the sleeves are a tad long but that doesn't bother me. It is stylish and I like the length for cold New England days. Thanks Moosejaw for carrying such great merchandise.
"super comfy and warm!" 03/01/12
This jacket is PERFECT for those below-freezing days when your butt feels like it's going to freeze off! I like the length of it--it's also super comfy and well-insulated. I wish there were a hood, but the collar of this jacket is pretty wide, so that compensates for the hood.

This is my first North Face and it's worth the money. It's very warm, unfortunately this winter in Michigan, I haven't worn it much this winter, but when I do, it is an exciting day. I definitely don't fee like a puffalump in it!
"Best parka I have ever owned" 02/13/12
Wore my first Metropolis (black) parka so much my husband purchased a second one in blue for me. Has nice long sleeves. Purchased one as a gift for my daughter at Christmas. Versatile parka....works well in the northeast for walks and hikes in wind, rain, sleet and snow as well as in the arid southwest for the cool winter morning and evening hikes. Only wish the new parka was exactly like my original parka...it had micro fleece aroung the entire collar and chin and the microfleece fully lined the pockets.....the newer version only has micro fleece at the chin and only on one side of the pocket. Still a fantastic parka!
"Best winter coat ever" 02/13/12
I've never invested in a winter coat before & I am so glad I did this time. It's worth every dollar. It's thin (not bulky), but protects me from the cold & the pockets are lined in such a way that your hands will instantly warm up in them. I love how long the coat is; easy to walk in, get in & out of the car in, & perfect for public transit commutes in the cold. The hood is super warm & stays on your head in even the worst winds. Best feature is the extra layer of fabric that covers the zipper near your neck and lower face...when you need to zip the coat all the way up, you can protect the lower half of your face with your coat AND the cold zipper won't even touch you.
