The North Face Men's ThermoBall Hoodie continues North Face's rich tradition of giving their new jacket technologies cool names. Thermoball sounds like the name of a James Bond movie. This is fitting as I could see Bond wearing this jacket while on a mission in the Alps or something. The reason MI6 would outfit James with the ThermoBall Hoodie is because the PrimaLoft ThermoBall technology (clusters of round synthetic insulation) creates small air pockets which trap heat to keep you warm even when wet and remains as compressible as down insulation. All he would need is this jacket and probably like an exploding pen to complete his alpine mission in comfort and style.

FEATURES of The North Face Men's ThermoBall Hoodie

  • Two hand pockets
  • Elastic binding at cuff and hood
  • Hem cinch-cord system in hand pockets
  • Stowable into hand pocket
  • Three-color zipper-pull detail

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Righteous Insulated Jacket! I bought this for my PCT thru-hike is year. I've worn it several times while training, meaning long hikes with and without backpack. Twice the temp was below freezing, the lowest was 26 and light snow. The jacket performed like a champ. I used a midweight wool baselayer underneath and nothing else and was comfortable. With the pack the jacket back got wet with my sweat but I stayed warm. Whenever I got a bit too warm, I pulled the zipper lower and loosened the jacket bottom draw string. Some complain because of the lack of a drawstring on the hood. But TNF cut the hood to wrap around the sides of the head when the front zipper is zipped up. It might not work well in below freezing temps if you are standing still for a long time, but that's not what I bought it for. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from favorite synthetic jacket I've had a few synthetic jackets over the years, and this is by far my favorite. I think it's slightly warmer than the patagonia nano puff. It's much, much better than the REI revelcloud, but that has a lot to do with a better fit. I'm 6' and 215 lbs and the large fits over a base layer and a light sweater, and easily fits under a shell. I particularly love the collar. Haven't worn a scarf or neck warmer all winter because this zips up so nice.,,,,The hood works fine. I wouldn't object to adding a pull string to tighten it, but it's not necessary. The hood stands up when the collar is zipped, and people who expect this kind of jacket to be their only layer when it's below freezing are just being crazy. Add a hat and you'll be good on any average winter day. Add a hat and a hooded shell and you'll be comfy during the polar vortexes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every PENNY i would pay double if I needed This jacket is the second one I am purchasing for a male in my household. It is SUPER WARM; SUPER DURABLE and very stylish. North Face has come a long way with the thermo ball jacket; does not even feel like you are wearing anything. Buy this for the men in your life; especially if they think they are invincible and do not need to wear a jacket.
