I've had this pack for a while now and my experience with it has been fantastic! It's perfect for a compact three day journey or just a day hike. Comfortable fit and able to hold a good sized load for the size of the backpack, all of the zippers secure tightly to prevent water from getting in. I would highly recommend this backpack to anyone.
I purchased a MUCH older version of this backpack...in 2000...When I first purchased it, I only used it for college. So it was used for four years of carrying around heavy books during the week and on the weekends I used it for travel. Since college, it has become my go-to daypack and airplane carry-on. I've never had to replace anything on it and honestly it's still going strong. There is only a slightly worn spot in the fabric at the very top but it doesn't affect the function of the backpack at all. This thing has seriously taken a beating and has plenty of life left in it. I highly recommend this backpack, and hope they still make them as tough as they did 13 years ago.
This pack is well-built and very comfortable to wear. The hip straps are very useful when hiking. The pack has just enough compartments, and several specialized pouches which can be useful. The only limitation with this pack is the fairly small size, so consider how much room you're going to need before buying
After researching for many different backpack styles and brands, i settled back on the North Face Borealis. The last time i purchased this product was over 10 years ago and when i was ready to replace it, it was obvious that i just needed to buy the newer model. It's a bit more compact than my original, but the features are great. there is padding at the bottom of the laptop holder to protect it and a water resistant hole at the top of the bag for a camelbak! I love the look, feel but most of all it's functionality. The only downside is that it barely fits my 15" laptop.
