Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall good sock, worth the price. Room for improvement...but not much. I like me a good light-medium hiking sock. First impression; could have been a little tighter fitting, I am a 10.5-11 and ordered the large. Could have used just a little more arch support for me, but I realize not everyone has my freakishly curved feet (they're not really that curved) and could have used just a bit more cushion on the heels, but again this is a "light sock" so for the category and the associated breathability (felt like giving my feet an oxygen mask...very breathable is what I'm getting at) I think it is a great buy for a decent price and appear to be durable, well made (no loose strings or messy seams on the inside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very comfortable, worth the $ In addition to hiking and outdoor sports use, these socks are good for daily wear in the winter. They are odor resistant and keep your feet drier than most socks. If you're wearing heavy boots or waterproof boots these socks may still get a little damp (depending on how heavily you sweat), but they dry quickly once the boots are off. Some of the other Smartwool socks are better molded to my feet (like the Adrenaline or PhD series), but these are still very comfortable and don't slide around or bunch up on my feet. I have found these socks to generally be more durable than any regular cotton socks, but I don't know how their longevity compares with other premium wool socks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally a warm winter sock for sweaty people The rumors about wool are true! After being told over and over again that wool is the way to go I broke down and bought a few pairs of the smart wool PHD socks and these guys on clearance. WHAT AN AWESOME PRODUCT! My job requires me to hike in waders all day so you can imagine how much moisture builds up in my boots. These things really work! Even after being in waders for 8 hours my feet feel awesome and there is no awful burnt death smell emanating from my feet when I take them off! These babies are thick and will keep you warm even when wading in icy waters! Buy them while they are still on sale!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yay sock time! It wasn't that long ago that the idea of spending over $10 on a pair of socks was like the equivalent of A/V geeks that buy $200 eletrical sockets for some barely perceptible, placebo-effect like benefit. But there's definitely a difference between these Smartwools and your 5-pack WalMart Blulight specials. They feel well-constructed. After taking a pounding they aren't stretching out, fraying and going limp. And they feel great. These are the socks I go for whenever I dig through the drawer. I'm sold. It's going to take a while but I'll eventually replace all the white tubers I have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Phenomenal hiking sock! In the past, I've used very heavy and thick wool socks for my hunting/hiking adventures. I kept reading great testimonials about the Smartwool hiking socks. Well, I decided to purchase a pair and see for myself what the buzz was about concerning these socks. It only took the first time wearing them and I immediately understood the cult following of these socks.......cause they flat our ROCK. They were so light, so comfortable, and kept my feet toasty warm without any sweating....and the best part....no itchy feet. I immediately bought another pair. Thanks MooseJaw!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Hiking Socks SmartWool simply makes the best hiking socks. I have several pairs of the Light Crew Sock and use it for hiking and even at home in cold weather. These socks keep your feet warm and dry. ,,,,The Light Crew sock is best for colder weather. If you are hiking in hot or humid climates, go with a lighter SmartWool sock like the PhD or even a liner. These socks are warm and will make your feet sweat in hot/humid weather - causing blisters FAST. If you use these in hot weather, bring a couple extra pair so you can switch them out throughout the day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The quintessential hiking sock. Buy it. Wool socks have long been the ally of outdoorsmen. Since it grows on sheep, wool is an excellent natural temperature regulating material. SmartWool has become the big name in wool foot-coverings. They live up to the standard nicely. These socks will serve you well throughout many a mountain trek. They fit well, they are very durable, and they will keep your feet happy. The only downside is if they get wet, they will not dry very quickly. But this is true of all wool socks. Every avid hiker should have at least a few pairs of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These come from the Wool of a 'smart' animal Cushions of the clouds is what I like to refer to this light hiker as during my hours of hiking. Combine this sock with a capable hiking boot and you have a system that will outdo the rest of your body. During a 7 mile at a relatively fast pace with a 20lb camelbak, the only part of me that didn't ache at least a little was, surprisingly, my feet! Great sock! I have always worn Thorlo's, but thought i would try something new... better than expected. I wear a 10.5 men's boot and got a large.
