Backpacker Magazine Editor’s Choice Award Winner

The Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack. Sea to Summit were the first to introduce a compression dry bag which does not use a purge valve. This innovation uses air permeable eVent fabric on the base, which allows air to be pushed out of the sack, but water can’t get in. This is a lighter, simpler and more reliable solution than a purge valve. The body is made of a tough 70 D polyurethane-coated fabric. It has a Hypalon roll-top closure like Sea to Summit Dry Sacks and a lid with four straps for even compression.

FEATURES of the Sea to Summit eVent Compression Dry Sack

  • Unique compression idea - allows air to be pushed out to compress, but water can't get in because of the waterproof, air permeable eVent fabric base
  • Waterproof seams - double stitched and tape sealed
  • Roll top Hypalon; closure with lid and 4 straps evenly compresses and maintains compressed size
  • Reinforced stitching on all stress points
  • Pull handle on the bottom
  • Super compact and very light
  • Avoid contact with sharp objects or subjecting the sack to high abrasion, as this could compromise the waterproof fabric

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with my Versalite Western Mountaineering Bag I use this to carry my western mountaineering versalite sleeping bag. I have never submersed it fully but I have had it in very heavy rain and I have ALWAYS had a dry sleeping bag. I have been using this pretty roughly for around 6 months and it is still in one piece. I have a very slight nic on the bottom but I'm sure it is from dragging it across some rock. These are very durable stuff sacks. It compresses down very well but I never overcompress so not to ruin my down bag. The straps along the side are also very sturdy, they have worked well for hanging on the outside of my pack. I have and would recommended this dry sac to a friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compression bag with waterproofing This is a great bag - as good as you're going to get in the compression bag department. The seams are sealed and strongly made. The compression straps are of a good strength and the buckles are also sturdy. Using a down 20 degree bag, I was able to get my sleeping bag into an XS and compressed down to a small football in size after applying some brutal force. I've yet to go swimming with the packed bag, but I can tell you that in a downpour, it holds up fine. It weighs a more than the traditional ultra-sil bag, but I view it as a tradeoff for the insurance. As my bag is down, it would be useless if wet, so the few grams extra are worth taking with me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great All Around Utility Bag I love these little bags! I always throw 2-3 of them in my pack wherever I go, because you always end up needing them. Whether it starts pouring and you need to keep electronics dry, or you need end up having to cross a river and need to keep something dry or even if you need to pack out some trash you don't want getting your other stuff wet or dirty. ,,,,Compression bags are cool, but these take it 2 steps further. ,,,,1. They are waterproof, so bonus.,,,,2. It has the event fabric on the bottom so it eliminates all the air in the pack and makes it even smaller than a normal compression sack...and its waterproof. ,,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Essential There are tons of stuff sacks out there yet this is one of the few that combines both eVent and compressibility, essential for the wet hikes I've been on. There are lighter options yet there's a lot to risk if you're looking to ensure that your sleeping gear is bone dry for the evening. Also, my 0 degree bag wouldn't fit nicely in my pack if this Dry Sack didn't snug it down to a manageable size. There's considerable skill needed to compress your items to look like the official Sea to Summit photos above and for the larger sack, compressing a sleeping back often results in some awkward shapes; the top black compression panel also could be a bit wider to cover the folds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is the only compression dry bag to own I have been backpacking for over 40 years and tried many different compression dry bags, but this is the only one that will hold up. There are many that are lighter in weight, there are some that say waterproof and do not work well, some fall apart after a few trips, all have there good and bad points. But if you want a quality bag that is waterproof, holds up well over many years and miles, and is easy to clean - this is your bag. I have two and am buying one more. Not only do I store my gear in them I have used them to carry water to camp, washed dished like a kitchen sink in them and have also used the XL for a sponge bath with final rinse.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's freakish how well this thing does the one thing it's supposed to do I purchased an XL to do one thing and one thing only: get my Dark Star -20 bag into my Bora 80 with plenty of room to spare. I went back and forth between the Large and the XL and I'm really glad I went with the larger size. The bag material acts like a one-way valve. You can compress it as hard as you want and air easily escapes. But let up on the pressure and little to no air gets sucked back in. After sitting on it and tugging on the straps a few times each, my bag is about 1/3 of it's normal size. Slides easily into my pack. We'll see how waterproof it is after it spends some time in the snow, but I have no reason to doubt its performance given what I've already seen.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best compression sack on the market! The sea to summit eVent compression dry sack is by far the best compression sack on the market today. I bought two of them...size medium for my summer sleeping bag and a large for my clothes and whatever else i want to keep dry and compact. The sack compresses my sleeping bag so small it left more room in the bottom compartment of my Gregory Baltoro 75 allowing me to fit my 1 person tent in the bottom compartment as well...this is awesome!!! Without the eVent dry sack I would not be able to do that! Very happy with this product...not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and these sacks are for real! Not to mention the backpacker sexy factor is about a 10 out of 10.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works surprisingly well! Even though I knew compression sacks supposedly squeeze things down to a third of the uncompressed sack height, I was pretty skeptical. I figured it would be like the space saver bags from As Seen on TV - good but not as good as it seemed in the product description. However, the Medium took my entire tent (excluding the poles) and, indeed, squished it into a small ball. The Small was a tighter fit for my mummy sleeping bag but it worked well too. (Tip for sleeping bags: after creating a tight roll, unroll a small portion to feed into the compression bag first, then angle the remaining of the sleeping bag to fit still rolled.)
