The Scarpa Men's Crux Shoe is an approach shoe for making it to the base of your next climbing challenge. The suede upper combines with recycled polyester airmesh, forming to your foot for comfort and allowing the back half to breathe. The Microporous EVA midsole provides a cushioned pad to walk on, like little clouds for your feet. The Vibram Vertical Approach outsole is super sticky for scrambling over technical terrain while the rubber toe rand protects your toe and the rest of the shoe from debris. The to-the-toe lacing with webbing ribcage secures the shoe on your foot for sureness as the trail turns vertical.

Forefoot webbing with Kevlar secures forefoot for climbing precision
I've owned these for about a year now, and they have gotten more comfortable with age. They also have held up well, and the tread is still as grippy as the day I bought them. I have a medium-to-narrow foot, so the fact that they lace down to the toe is a nice feature. These are great shoes for day hiking and scrambling or even for light bouldering.
"Really good approach shoe with limited durability"
First, I love this shoe. No need for other shoes below the snow line if you have good ankle support. The Vibram grip is insane, way more than you are used to with normal hiking boots, since this shoe flexes more and gives you more surface area. It's really comfortable too. I used this shoe for two month of intense hiking, scrambling, and even rock climbing. Only drawback, after all this abuse it is pretty much worn out and falling apart. The durability could be a little bit better!
I had these shoes and they were not right for me. I have a wider foot and they were not comfortable on the sides. The tongues seem to keep sliding to the side and this is something ive heard from other people with the same shoe. I had to return but they could be perfect for you.
