I won a pair of Salomon Men's XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 GTX Shoes by winning an apple-bobbing contest here at Moosejaw. Hands down the best prize I've ever won in my many years of apple-bobbing. I used to wear them as a day-to-day shoe, but after using them on a hiking trip I've relegated them to be a trail-only shoe. Don't get me wrong, they're great as an everyday shoe, but they're SO GOOD on the trail that I'm saving them for that. Lightweight, durable, stable, the XA Pro 3D Ultra 2s excel in any condition. They'll block out the wetness on a sloppy trail but are still breathable enough to prevent internal moisture buildup.

GORE-TEX Extended Comfort Footwear

GORE-TEX Extended Comfort Footwear
GORE-TEX Extended Comfort Footwear is ideal for warmer conditions and high-output activities. It is durably waterproof and highly breathable. As conditions change, this footwear will adapt. Kinda like how penguins are starting to fly now that the ice caps are melting. I read that in a book.

If you are unsure of how to find your foot measurement, use the instructions below. You will need a sheet of paper, ruler, pen, and a pair of socks you intend on wearing with the shoes you pick out.

• While wearing the socks, stand on the sheet of paper and place the heel of your foot against the wall. Make sure your heel is wedged firmly against it.

• Use the pen and ruler to draw a straight line just in front of your big toe.

• Use the ruler to measure the distance between the wall and the line you drew in front of your big toe.

• Once you have your measuremet, refer to the Foot Measurement Size Conversion chart above.

• Now treat yourself to a candy bar. You've worked hard today.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lock and load Dear Everybody-,,,,I am a Gore product tester , but i purchased these on my own. This shoe is excellent. They keep my feet dry, provide a lot of stability, and have a cute little pocket to tuck your laces into. Seriously though, if you have chunky feet, they probably won't fit. At least on me, the Solomon's seem to run a bit narrower than other shoes. For me, it isn't tight, just cozy. Cozy that I like on a trail run- not cozy like a subway after a Yankees game. The styling is great and they have great traction. Others have commented on the soles going to quickly, but I have not had that problem. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big Ups for this shoe This shoe is constructed really well. It fits true to size, but it is a bit stiff for my liking. I imagine this will loosen as time moves on. I have worn these casually over the last couple months so not a lot of wear on them yet. I own another pair of Salomen GTX shoe which is more comfortable than this and if I remember correctly was not as stiff in the beginning as these. Despite this minor annoyance, I do really love this shoe. I was attracted initially to the design/look of the shoe and primarily purchased because of that and my very good experience with the previous pair. ,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These shoes are super awesome for any condition! I do everything in these shoes. Trails, check. Track, check. Rain, check. Comfort, check. Theses shoes do it all. The shoe runs regular on my foot, not too wide and not too narrow. I'm really flat footed and it took some time to get used to these shoes; however, these shoes, have never given me discomfort since I broke them in. I often sustain injury in other running shoes but not with these, so needless to say I'm super pleased with them. If you need a do-anything shoe to help you conquer the trails, streets or the elements, these are the shoes for you!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from There are better options As a goretex product, this shoe keeps your feet dry and does its job. Otherwise, this shoe has its flaws. I have a low volume, flat foot, and this shoe took forever to break in and feel comfortable. I used this shoe as a trail runner and a hiker. As a trail runner, it was a bit too narrow and had a crappy footbed; i replaced with blue superfeet. As a hiker it had unacceptably bad traction on rocky surfaces. If you have long narrow feet and plan to do some mildly technical trail running, then this will suffice. Otherwise, there are better options.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well-Rounded Shoe. Durability is the only flaw. First and foremost; I don't wear these year-round, but they do see quite a bit of use during the summer. I've had mine for four years, and they're great! My only complaint, and reason for me not ranking this product as "Love It!" is because my pair has hole on both sides of the toe crease..... Prior to the rips, the shoes were totally waterproof in ankle-deep water. I will likely get a few more summers out of my pair, granted that I am mindful not to go romping through the shallow water anymore. If you've got the gold, you've got a good product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoe for running/hiking, breathable, good traction like tiger paws I have two pair of Salomon's trail shoe, XA Pro 3D Ultra and the Wings version. Both offer good traction, ample support without being stiff and breath really well. The XA Pro is my go to for fast hikes and light running but for harsher, rockier conditions the Wings have better cushioning although the waterproof version does not breath as well. That being said i did wear the lighter XA Pro down Kaibab Trail in Grand Canyon, rim to the river and back in 7 hours, therefore the shoe worked well leaving no blisters or discomfort on my feets!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Descent but Nothing to Write Home About Without a doubt, this is a solidly built shoe, and is superbly waterproof, but it has too many flaws to its character to really recommend it. For starters, it's real pain to break in, and even after, there are still a lot of pressure points on your foot that make wearing it for a literal pain for long durations. Also, as is the case with other Salomon shoes I've had, it's a very flat footed shoe, with a very small arch and poor footbed support. These, however, pale in comparison to the shoe's virtually nonexistant grip on rock and this is what really damns it. I've never worn a shoe in which I've felt so terribly unsecure on rock surfaces, and for this to be the case with Salomon's top-of-the-line trailrunning shoe is really unacceptable. Avoid this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Feet = Heaven I believe that these shoes/boots/whatever are the most comfortable device you could put on a human being's foot. Lightweight, tough, and water resistant. They are great to play a long game of ultimate frisbee or go on a day hike. Suck it gravity, these shoes make you fly!,,,,But seriously, they break in pretty quickly, they do not smell, even after I have worn them for many hikes and recreational activities. It would be wise to read this review and then purchase these suckers because itz de best!
