Rated 3 out of 5 by from Seam seal is a pain. I bought these bags to haul water from streams to my base/spike camps for water consumption needs in Colorado(washing dishes, filtration for drinking, cleaning, etc). They did the job, but rarely was I ever able to affectively seal the zip seams on these bags especially when my hand were wet and cold from filling them up with cold water. These bags are robust, foldable, and ultra light weight for back packing, but the seams are poorly designed for the practical hunter/camper. These bags require a significant amount of hand strength and dexterity to close in cold weather conditions, but they work really well IF and when you can seal them correctly

Rated 5 out of 5 by from easy to close, durable, no taste or smell I bought this to carry ice in a cooler (and perhaps for backpacking and canoe tripping). Keeps the cooler contents dry and the ice water is available to drink. Will hold most, if not all, of a 10 lb bag of ice cubes (depends on the size of the cubes). I found the bag easy to open and close with my hands when both bag and hands were wet and ice cold. Much easier than my older Platy Big Zip bags where I have to use my teeth/jaw to close. Perhaps the design has changed (?) as I read the reviews before buying and was prepared for the closure to be difficult.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expensive, but worth it We've used the 6l version for a few years for car camping, and in the car for road trips to refill water bottles. We like it because it does not impart taste. Overall we have at least 50 days of use on it. We've never had it spill or leak. We even recently used it backpacking, but did not carry water in a backpack with it, only at camp. It is somewhat tricky to close, but I find that when the locking mechanism is wet it closes much easier. We'll be buying a second as 6l is not enough capacity for a desert trip we are taking soon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hard to close = hard to use It works for holding water. It does stand upright and empties out more easily than some of the jug-type ones. the 'secure' manner of closing actually makes it really difficult to close, so water spills out, which is just annoying and counter-prodictive.,,,,My advice? One camping trips, make one of your kids (or the really annoying guy that always tags along) the "water-watcher" and make them go back and forth to fill it up so your feet aren't always wet.,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! I have used a 2L version of the Water Tank for many years. It has been completely reliable and one of the best pieces of gear I use backpacking. The tank never leaks from the zipper, weighs next to nothing and takes up virtually no space in my pack. I don't understand how so many others could list zipper failure as a problem unless, perhaps, the zipper is less reliable on newer products. Keep making them in America!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Needs a 'sidelock' closure, like the 'Big Zip'.. The top zip opens up at the drop of a hat. Not sure why, if you need the zip at the top, Platypus didn't make the handle like that of the Platypus Big Zip"sidelock" closure. Boom, you would have had an easy way to close it up and make sure it STAYS closed, and you would have your built in handle.. Not impressed with it as is.. Needs to be handles with an undue amount of care.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It holds your water :P I have used the older model for a few years and grabbed this one when it was on sale.. I love it! Very light weight and pack able.. down to a little bigger than a deck of cards. Great for setting up a base camp.. some people were complaining about the closure system and I don't see any problem with it as long as you use it how it was designed to be used.,,,,BUY IT!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointing I have used this bottle on several extended AT hikes. Although it does hold the water well it's virtually impossible to 'ZIP' close. I finally quit trying and deal with it being open and sloshing around while I'm walking and carrying it with water in it. IF I could find anything other product that was comparable in volume I'd pitch this one. I do not recommend it.
