Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent rappelling device, for rappels over 100 feet This device is (unlike the other review state) flawless. From what it seems people are are buying this in place of a Grigri. Trust me if all you're doing is rock climbing, you don't need this. The only time I've found the function of this device practical was while repelling off of a 24 story building. It's great because it's easy to understand. If you squeeze the handle, you go, if you let go, you stop. It does cause an extreme amount of friction which makes regular rappels very very slow. But if you are a caver, or a rope access tech, where you'll be dealing with hundreds of feet of rope, this thing is bomber. It dissipates heat like a champ so there's no worry of your rope going kaputs.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from GriGri is better... The Petzl stop is not the best designed descender. There are probably too many flaws to name, but I'll name a few: You need to constantly push down on the lever to keep you locked, and there is too much traction to keep you going fast enough. The best way to go is the Petzl GriGri.

Very easy to control and learn on :) I mean if you need a nice blue single rope descender than this is your ticket to the movies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Descending nicely At the first i think it only would help me because it is a lot smaller tha the rack but then i realize that it is a very comfortable device to descends, it manage itself, the automatic brake and the systems gets you down nice and slowely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not just a descender At first I bought it primarily for first time rappelers. After one weekend of use, I quickly realized it is a very versatile little tool to have for working with rope. Well worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Try it! Extremely simple to use and lock off. Great quality. It does slip a bit depending on rope type, size, and weather conditions.
