The Petzl NAO Headlamp is a rechargeable headlamp with self-adjusting light for all types of outdoor activity. The REACTIVE LIGHTING technology adjusts to the ambient light around you, causing the two high power LEDs to increase or decrease light output as well as provide a wide or focused beam pattern. The reduces the need for manual adjustments, leaving your hands free. It also increases the battery life, since it is only providing the proper amount of light depending on your surroundings. The downloadable software lets you regulate the lighting further based on your activity, registering up to four different profiles. The Zephyr headband is adjustable for comfort and includes a top strap for more technical trips into the outdoors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A solid investment ,,I have used this for everything from backpacking in Red River Gorge to ice climbing in Michigan. Like other reviewers noted the light is exceptionally bright and the reactive features work well. I have yet to have the battery run out on me with heavy use on weekend trips and with moderate use on weeklong ones. Extreme cold also has no effect on the battery life. My one issue is that the reactive feature is very sensitive in that fire smoke and exhaling in cold conditions sometimes causes a flickering effect. All in all this is a solid purchase and this light has quickly become one of my favorite pieces of gear. ,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ultra Runner's Recommendation Take it from an all night ultra runner... this is the headlamp to own. The simple to follow instructions and flexibility this lamp provide will more than satisfy. The reactive lighting works flawlessly to provide you with the proper amount of light for changing situations. The rechargeable battery is easy to use and provides surprising run time. The head straps easily adjust and the front elastic bands provide amazing all night comfort. ,,,,The only flaw (if you can call it that) is the headband/adjustment straps can become a bit tangled, especially when the battery cable is unplugged.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Dirtbags need not bother IF you got the money and really need something that dims on its own and is likely the smartest flashlight you'll ever buy -- then you should totally get this headlamp. But if you're just another dirtbag climber like me, there's a lot of other stuff I could buy with the extra $125 you're paying for these over any other perfectly good headlamp. However I can definitely see these as super useful when both hands are occupied and you're dealing with constantly changing conditions, perhaps spelunking or something. A little too rich for my blood, but super cool nonetheless.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Def the coolest headlamp on the market. I love Lamp. ,,I love Nao.,,It works as well as Petzl claims. Real world battery life is very good and you can program it to last for days and days if you want. If you're concerned just bring some extra AAA's. ,,Also, this thing is searingly bright. DO NOT point it directly at someone, they will likely think they're about to be hit by a train and they could have a heart attack, ye be warned. If you've got the dough and are looking for a solid investment in lighting technology, look no further than Nao.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expensive, but lights up the night!!! This headlamp is brighter than a lot of flashlights and the reactive brightness feature works quickly and very well. I can light up trees in my neighbors yard that are over 300' away and then look down at papers in my hand without being blinded. So far battery life seems pretty good and the light doesn't feel too heavy on my head.,,,,Overall a very good light that is well made and worth the money. Catch it on sale like I did and it only gets better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but not worth the price I think this is a great lamp, it does the job and it has so far been durable and easy to use. But if you are going to spend money on a really good lamp, I say either go for a cheaper lamp that is almost as good but without the technical feats or spend even more money on an even better lamp like the petzl ultra. The Nao simply is not worth the price you pay. ,,In my view. Still, it is a good lamp if you can get hold of one cheaply.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best flashlight I've used I have used this flashlight for mountaineering training in the mountains, camping, and even in the house when the power goes out. The sensor is quite fast in changing light, the battery lasts much longer than the flashlights that do not use the light sensor, and its maximum power shines a lot! Petzl excellent product. Recommended 100%

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing for trail running, hiking, camping, working Basically this headlamp is incredible...I already own a Petzl Myo headlamp and the NAO is a huge improvement. The reactive lighting is out of this world. I went trail running last night and am blown away at how simple it is to run and save energy...Basically you turn it on and never have to touch it until you are done. I also love that I am able to modify and make my own profile with the OSByPetzl software. You can load up to 4 different profile types or activities. The rechargeable battery is a big benefit to me as well--I hated disposing of 3 AA batteries every time I needed more power with my Myo. The Petzl NAO's battery lasts a long time as well. I have taken it backpacking in the winter (Mid-December), I ran the lamp from about 5:30pm until 11pm and then the next morning for an hour. On New Years Eve this year I went iceblocking (google it) for 2 hours. Then I went for a trail run last night for another hour and it still had 10% battery left. Lastly The way that it secures and adj
