Women's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

FORMFITTING
• Conforms to the body's contours.

SLIM FIT
• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

REGULAR FIT
• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

RELAXED FIT
• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

CLASSIC BOY FIT
• Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.

ANIKA FIT
• Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft, warm fleece I recently bought a similar "fuzzy" North Face but it shed horribly (mostly on my seat belt; the fuzzies would then transport themselves to anything else I wore). After just a few wears it was also matting. So, I wasn't happy. Thankfully I found this Patagonia fleece instead! It is soft and fuzzy, but the high-pile means it doesn't shed. Additionally, it hasn't matted so far, and even better, it's a lot warmer than the similar North Face jacket. The only downside I've found so far is that the neck is a bit stiff when zipped all the way. I also wish the pockets had zippers, but they're very deep so it's not a huge issue. Overall this is a great, cozy fleece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Snuggly I'm 5'8, 140 and ordered a Large. I have long arms and the sleeve length on this jacket is nice and generous, definitely long enough for me. Seems to be a slimmer cut thru the body, not necessarily smaller or tighter, just not an abundance of extra room/fabric/bulk, which is more flattering. I bought a similarly-styled fleece last year from the brand that starts with N and ends with Face, and it pilled even after I washed it by itself. The fabric on this Patagonia is a silkier fleece and it doesn't look to me like it will have pilling problems. Seems like a fleece that will last for the next million years or so.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE IT I have bought and returned so many jackets this season - couldn't decide what I wanted. As it turns out, I wanted something COZY to wear indoors, or for a quick jaunt outside. This is PERFECT. The color is fantastic, one of my favorites, and the type of fleece super soft and snuggly. This is not a coat for me, but something I will wear even more because I tend to be chilly and wear layers anyway. We have had a cold winter, and I like to be warm both indoors and out :) I wear a 2, xs or s, chest 32A, and I chose the small. I could have worn the xs, as I have room, but the small is absolutely perfect over my clothing. There is no struggling to get it to fit over even two other layers. It's great - happy I chose it!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So versatile! I received this jacket as a gift for my birthday. I currently live in northern California, where dressing for the weather can be tricky at best. I leave for work before 8am, when it is often cool, and return home after 5, which sometimes feels like the peak of the day, temperature-wise. This jacket is perfect for chilly mornings and is light enough to wear in the afternoons as well. I love the mesh lined, open pockets (great for my phone) and the full zip. My particular jacket, in the off-white color, doesn't feel out of place with my pencil skirt walking to work and on the train. A+ Patagonia!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's the Fuzz At first when I tried this on, I didn't think it could be that warm because of how light it is. In fact, the wind cuts right through it when you don't wear an outer layer. But then I wore it around for a little while, and I didn't ever want to take it off. It's just the right amount of fuzzy insulation and breathability. Since getting it last week, I've worn it probably 5 out of 7 days. Fits like all of my other Patagonia items, and is super cozy. I especially love the cuffs, since they aren't rolled as tightly as some other Patagonia items (even the pullover version of the Re-tool).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for light weather conditions, especially fall/early winter This jacket is pretty great for a fleece coat. It's kept me very warm during the on and off cold weather so far this year. The two downsides are the cream color does get dirty quickly, but it does wash off without any extra work, which I appreciated. The other downside is that there aren't any bungees around the bottom hemline like in some other fleeces. I bought a large and it isn't very tight around the hips even though it fits perfectly in other parts, just wish I could cinch it tighter. All in all, a great fleece for around town and light recreation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Soft, warm! I am 5'3 125, ordered size S. It fits me perfectly, so soft and warm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fuzzy, Comfortable, Quality you'd expect from Patagonia Bought this for my lil sis since she was obsessed with my Patagonia fleece, we both love it!,,,,It's comfortable and extremely soft and fuzzy...just a warning-- this means friends will come up to you and touch you while you're wearing it! (Some people are into that kind of thing though but bewared if you don't like people invading your personal bubble!),,,,Downsides: not really windproof and the pockets are more like hoody pockets, I wish they had zip pockets.

Will this shrink at all in the wash / dryer? What are the care instructions? Does this fit similar to the Better Sweater Jacket, or larger or smaller? (the 'regular' for both, not tailored). (I was btwn sizes on the better sweater jacket)

Asked by: Tiffany
Thanks for the question! The care instructions are to wash on on cold, inside out, delicate cycle and tumble dry low. I would suggest hang drying to prevent any possible shrinking, although I have not heard of this happening. I find the Re-Tool to be slightly shorter than the Better Sweater, but will fit the same in the chest and hips. If you are in between sizes, then I would size up. I hope this helps!

Is the women's full zip re-tool jacket heavier (warmer) than the women's re-tool snap-T pullover?

Asked by: Patt
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! The Patagonia Full-Zip Re-Tool Jacket is slightly heavier (17.1 oz) than the Patagonia Re-Tool Snap-T Pullover (16.1 oz). Both are made of 100% Polartec Thermal Pro polyester fleece. You just need to decide if you rather zip up your jacket or pull it over your head!
