Women's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

• Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.

• Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cap 3 Zip Neck - Mid Weight option Okay, I am a Patagonia addict. I love Cap 2 and Cap 4 stuff. I love the full zip cap 4 and the zip neck cap 2. My life would not be complete without those 2 styles. This one, I could live without. Cap 3 fits "big" and is just an odd weight. My personality craves "feeling naked" (like there is nothing on my skin) - that is Cap 2 - or it craves feeling like I am in a big, cozy warm embrace - that is Cap 4 stuff. Cap 3 just feels like, well, normal clothes. If you need "normal", then go for this and consider sizing down. I own several Cap 3's and DO wear them, so they are useable, just not my fave's at all. Hope that helps!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Must-Have. The End. I can't say enough awesome things about this piece. I love it. I have two. I use them all the time. Around the house. Hiking. Snowboarding. Shopping. Kayaking. Mountaineering. ,,,,Super comfortable. Absolutely no clue what it's made out of, but it rocks. Not windproof, not crazy warm. But its extremely versatile. Great for layering. Also, I'd like to note that it fits me perfectly compared to any other piece of gear I own. I wear a Small. 5'4 athletic build, and I have a decently long torso for my height. Hopefully, patagonia doesn't change the shape/fit for when I need to pick up some more!,,,,Get one now!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all year round. I love my capilene zip Neck. ,,,,In winter I wear them when running in temperatures 40 and below. I like being able to zip it down to release heat as I warm up when I run. ,,,,In summer I like to keep this shirt with me for after a run because your body cools quickly when you sweat and if you go to an air conditioned cafe to enjoy a coffee or a bagel after your long run you can get cold quickly. I put this on and it quickly absorbs the moisture on my skin and warms me up. ,,,,In the spring and fall during those mild temperature months I actually like to just wear them as a top layer for a casual outfit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I weep because I cannot wear this shirt to work I cannot stress enough how much I love this base layer. It is always the very first thing I put in my bag, whether I'm camping, snow tubing, hiking, or adventuring. Curvy girls, take notice: the XL fits me like the best "boyfriend shirt" ever. I'm 37/30/43 and the XL is quite flattering as a shirt, but not snug enough for a base layer if you plan to layer anything snug over it. The Capilene 3 breathes very well, and holds its size, shape, and color after wearing and multiple washes. Overall, I cannot recommend this product enough. I want 10 more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from runs big Sadly, like other retailers, Patagonia appears to be sizing up for fat Americans. I am 5'6" (36C) and I now wear an XS; I should not wear an XS. I have 2 of these shirts, both of which look great with the contrasting colors. My main complaint is that the external serging on the forearm seams, while stylish, tends to fuzz up with crack climbing. Fortunately it's less noticeable than the fuzz on my mountain hardware shirt with the serging across the chest, which has fallen victim to squeeze chimney routes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for cold weather camping and hiking I took this shirt on a 12 day Alaska mountaineering trip and it kept me warm! I layered a thinner base layer under it no problem. The zipper on the front was great for when I got warm. I was easily able to layer my two base layers under several other layers of warm clothing (temps below freezing most of the time). I am VERY happy I bought this shirt and would recommend it for cold weather camping/backpacking/hiking. The shirt did not restrict movement and was quite comfortable to live in for multiple days.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from what was that? your thinking about buying it?... don't think, buy it! Let me start by saying the Patagonia Capilene base layer series is amazing. I would own every piece if I had the money to spend. I took this shirt backpacking for a month in Wyoming and I have nothing bad to say about it at all. It is super soft, not itchy (like some wools), super breathable, doesn't absorb odor, dries fast, super warm, and is going to last me forever. I tend to get cold easily, but in 20 degree weather with this as my base layer, I was toasty warm like a marshmallow. It's perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Kinda Don't Wanna Take It Off Like this a lot. It's warm and cozy but super lightweight (um, the perfect baselayer?!). I agree with the reviewer that thinks it's a bit looser-fitting than other Patagonia baselayers. I'm 5'6" 115 lbs, and the small is quite roomy through the waist and sides, which is OK by me. It's also a bit longer than other baselayers I've owned. Overall, I'm into this, although if you're someone who likes things super snug, you might want to size down.
