Women's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

• Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.

• Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite baselayer! I wear my baselayers both for work and play, and these Capilene shirts are perfect for my needs. I'm cold natured, and wear them at work in 60-64 degree temps (sedentary activity) and am very comfortable. For colder temps I layer them with a fleece, which slides on very easily over the finish. Capilene products last through many washings without looking worn. The only thing I have noticed is that while I generally wear a medium in most tops due to wide shoulders for my size (about a 6, 34B) but I need to size down to a small in these tops. Highly recommend these (as well as the other capilene baselayers!)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great layer! I have one of these already and had to get another (awesome, sale price, Moosejaw!) It's become my new favorite next-to-skin layer for skiing. It fits well (I'm 5'11 and 150 lbs) and the medium is perfect for me. I wish it was a TAD longer in the body (but I wish that for most things), but I can still tuck it in to my long underwear bottoms. Sleeves are a good length for me! It's very breathable - keeps me warm but vents well when I'm hiking. Also - having any allergy to wool, so I love this material which seems to work just as well as other wool-ish layers.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not so bad For someone who likes a little more comfort and looseness in their base layer, this is the way to go. For me, as someone who gets cold very easily, I need as little air between my base layer and skin as possible (obviously enough to breathe and wick away sweat) so this turned out to not be the best for me. Also, I got a medium that was way too loose but later tried on a small elsewhere and that fit much better, still loose but comfortable. For reference, I'm 135 lbs with around a 35 A/B chest.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This shirt keeps you insulated pretty well! I have used this shirt for jogs in colder weather and during a camping trip in November. It definitely does the job keeping me insulated as a base layer. I ordered a size small and it fits a little more loosely than I would have liked it to (I am 5'2" and 110lbs). I just wish it kept me a little dryer, but maybe I just sweat a lot. Bottom line though, this shirt is a great base layer, fits a little loser so it's good for layering, and doesn't keep me as dry as I was hoping it would.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great base layer for colder climates The Patagonia Capilene 3 collection is the best base layer I have seen. I spent the summer working outdoors and backpacking and this was my go-to layer for nighttime and during the day once it started getting cooler. It wicks moisture and insulates well. Also, holds up to wear and tear and washing really well. I have it in both purple and brown and will probably buy it again when those wear out. I'd recommend the Capilene 3 base layers to anyone above all other products I've tried.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this baselayer! This baselayer is great for all your backpacking needs. I sleep in it in the backcounty and it keeps my plenty warm. I have also used it at football games in the winter and it works great there too. It fits a little snug, so I suggest not buying a size down or anything. You probably don't need to buy a size up, just buy the size that would normally fit you. It works so amazing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from best midweight layer ever have 2 of these, black and an orangey color. im 5 foot 1 36c and a medium fits perfectly. it keeps me warm without overheating me while hiking, going to the gym, and walking the dog. i am able to layer with it as well. the fit is formfitting without being overly tight (hugs curves in all the right loves it). wicks well too and always comfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not the best fit Although I love the Capilene 1 SW shirt, I find the Capilene 3 not so great. It has a somewhat boxy fit, and the texture is a bit stiff. I suppose that it does it's job at insulating, however I don't find this shirt to be flattering, well fitted and it doesn't feel great next to the skin. I would prefer merino wool for this type of shirt.
