Women's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

• Boxy, athletic, with a traditional crew neck.

• Formfitting and longer in the torso, with a wider, deeper neck (not quite scoop).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must-Haves <3 If I could own enough pairs of these to wear from November to March and only do laundry once a week, I would be elated. First, they fit well. While they fit snugly, they are not skin tight, so your feet and ankles won't get chilly from lack of circulation. They also fit easily under sensible femininely cut jeans and other layers. Second, they stand up well both to wear and laundering. Mine have yet to fade or sag. Third, they are true to size, and have enough coverage in the seat and waist to avoid the constant fiddling to keep them up over your tush. The material is smooth, soft, and a pleasure to wear. Overall, I highly recommend this product! LTM - <3 H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from If you go outside when it's cold, you need these! I live in the mountains where it's cold, so I have a drawer especially dedicated to long underwear. Mostly, it's filled with Smartwool and Capilene, and I always grab the Capilene over the Smartwool. Cap 3 is the perfect weight for almost everything when you need a good baselayer to keep you warm, and it's not at all itchy like Smartwool. And hey, you can always layer it with more Capilene...and make Cap 12 or something awesome like that. And I have to admit, even though no one else sees my long underwear, I think that the fact that this Cap 3 comes in teal is pretty sweet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sizing is a little off So I've heard nothing but wonderful things about these base layers and wanted to get some for myself. Unfortunately, the sizing for me was not right at all. Because these aren't like your typical super stretchy tights, the sizing needs to be spot on. I normally get a large in those kinds of tights because I'm 6'1" but the large in these bottoms wouldn't even stay up on my waist (135 lbs). Even when I pulled them up to where they should be, they were well above my ankles and I'm a 33" inseam so that's not too crazy. I tried on a medium pair of the newer ones that came out and they fit perfectly and were longer. I can't imagine this older version in a medium fitting on my waist so for those of you that are tall and thin, seek out the updated capilenes!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My loves I just ordered my third pair of these and I am happy as always. Living in Michigan means it can get pretty cool and windy. I rock these as leggings under dresses/jeans in winter, pj pants, and shoveling armor. They are amazing. Not bulky or itchy, just comfy. They keep you warm, and move with you. I am a size 6 so I went with the M, and they fit perfectly. If I pair with my re-tool sweater then I feel like I am rocking a socially acceptable blanket in the shape of a robe. I highly recommend these to keep you warm!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product Great product. I received them for a gift last year from my son and I wore them to death. I get cold even though I live in So. California and find that the Patagonia tops and bottoms Capilene level 3s keep me warm and toasty and I wear them under almost everything I can. I order another black pair this year and a natural color also. Love them. And glad I got on and ordered them when I did because last year it got hard to find them when we waited too late in the year.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Every backpacker needs a pair (or more) This baselayer is a must for cool nights in the backcountry. My pair have seen hundreds of miles of hiking and backpacking and they still look new. The waist band is so comfortable you'll never know it's there. These fit close to the skin without being overly tight. ,,,,The only drawback is that they have the usual bodyodor problems of all synthetic fabrics. A good wash at home freshens them up for the next trip.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from really great for all conditions i wore these hiking through snow in grand teton national park. although it was 85 degrees outside, there was still waist-deep snow on the ground. these leggings kept my legs from freezing and getting soaking wet, but also felt comfortable out of the snow in a fast-paced, intense hike to johnson lake. bought them in the bright blue, and although i love the color, dirt from the excursion instantly stained them.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for those apple shaped girls. I'm 5'0 and weigh 120lbs. I read reviews concerning the slim fit in the thighs so I ordered up a size (a medium). Wow, the waist is really HUGE and the thighs are extremely tight! If you are athletic with large thighs these are not for you. So disappointed that these have to be returned. Material feels great and I'm sure these will keep you warm while doing outdoor activities if they fit properly.
