Men's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great jacket, but.... In a nutshell: This is a very warm jacket that feels good to wear. I've owned the R3 for about 7 months now and it's gone on almost every adventure I have had. I've had a lot of use from this jacket, and gotten many compliments. Not to mention all the girls LOVE to pet it's furry fleece exterior. It's a better chick magnet than me! My only complaint is that after seven months of regular use/abuse it has lost much of it's loft and stretched out in the arms and back panel (from my daypack) despite semi-regular cleanings. After sitting in a desk chair, and wearing a backpack between classes, the back panel of my R3 is paper thin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Patagonia R3 Awesome Jacket I am 5'9" 160-175 lbs and got a size small and the fit of this jacket is perfect even with a tshirt or long sleeves underneath! Very soft high loft fleece and is has drawstrings on bottom of jacket on both sides to sinch jacket up! Was surprised jacket did not have a small inside pocket like a few of my other fleece jackets but its no big deal! One complaint is sleeve ends are a little loose wished there was adjustable cuffs or spandex matterial so it would be a tighter fit! Overall the jacket is a solid fleece jacket and would highly recommend it as well as Mountain Hardwear Monkey Jacket, these by far are the two best high loft thermal pro fleece jackets I have ever owned!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly warm! I'm very impressed how warm this fleece is. ,,I've compared it to my other Patagonia Los lobos fleece jacket and also a Columbia Omni Heat fleece jacket and they don't even compare to how ridiculously warm this thing is. ,,I'm very pleased with it and I'll be using it as a midlayer when the weather gets down to the teens this week in Boston. ,,Overall , excellent product. I ordered a large and I'm 511 173lbs. I think the Medium would have been a better fit but I like to have other shirts and a thermal underneath and the Medium might be too snug and I will lose the freedom of movement which I like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most comfortable jacket I have ever owned This is by far the best fleece I have ever owned. It is a lot lighter but even warmer than the north face and mountain hardwear fleeces I have owned previous to this jacket. It is also great when you do get a little too warm you can just unzip it and it becomes a perfect light weight fleece. I have also worn it under my Patagonia Torrentshell rain coat to make a perfect combination of warmth and waterproof. Everything about this jacket is great, from the materials to the cut. I am 6 foot about 175 pounds and the medium fits me perfectly. Would recommend this jacket to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Jackets an Attention Grabber! This jacket is super versatile. I needed a coat to replace my North Face Denali and this fit the bill. It's really warm, light, fashionable, breathable and comfortable. I wear it to work as well as out on the town. I've received many compliments on it and have had many people feel the texture and compliment on how comfortable the coat looks. It is quite plush with the fleece being a big longer than most which really helps with the warmth and style. I am 5'6" and 170 lbs and a medium fits well with some room to spare, it's a regular fit coat and stretches a bit with wear but returns back after a wash. I got the gray color and absolutely love it to match jeans as well as business casual clothing.. I highly recommend this coat!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LIVE in this thing! This jacket is luxurious in every sense of the word. It is wicked warm, super stylish, and dang durable. I am 5'10", 150 lbs with and athletic build and the Medium fit me perfectly. Truth be told I haven't worn another jacket since I bought it. It works fine by itself in temps down to 40, but doesn't block wind so you will need a shell if it is windy or colder than 40. As with all Patagonia products, it is well built and eco-friendly. WARNING: If you get it in blue, like I did, be prepared for people mistaking you for Cookie Monster or Grover.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile fleece everyone will want to grope After going back and forth between the R2 and R3 I decided to spend a little more for the R3. Glad I did. The fit is many Patagonia offerings a little slim in torso (which I love) so it could be a bit snug for some. Three pockets, zipper garage, elastic drawstring adjustment and the whole bit...but the coolest (warmest?) feature of the R3 is the material. The fleece feels as if it was ripped straight from a Muppet's ass. It is insanely soft and everyone will want to touch it, which might improve your social life.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm in calm conditions but use as a midlayer R3 highloft is warm to say the least! I use this jacket as my mid layer for alpine climbing. I prefer to wear a windbreaker over it when the wind is up and its below 30 degrees out, but otherwise I wear this jacket right over a fleece and I am warm and toasty in calm conditons as far down as 20. I would definatly recomend this product but be careful your friends might nickname it the bathmat like mine did! Bottom line, great jacket for mid layer and for climbing! I highly recomend this!
