Men's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Layer This shirt is awesome. It's great as an only layer when working out. It breathes so the sweat wicks away so your body stays at an even temperature instead of getting chilled. It is also great as a base layer with unobtrusive thumbholes that are helpful with keeping sleeves in place when inserting sleeves into an outer layer. Again, the temperature regulation was reliably constant when I was in 10 degree temperatures using this as a base layer while walking at a brisk pace. At first I was comfortable but after awhile my body heated up and I had to open my jacket. I felt the beginning of perspiration but I didn't get cold from it like I have from other synthetic base layers in the past. Merino is wonderful and the trim cut makes this shirt ideal for layering or showing off your athletic build. I'm 5'11" 170lbs. and the Medium fits well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, light, well cut I bought one of these a few years ago and when the weather turned I couldn't find, my wife informed me that it was now I needed to find another one. This version is newer and I like the thumb loops (I have long arms). I'm 5'10", 165 and the large fits me great. I also have 36" long arms and the length is good (not perfect). This will become your go to long sleeve shirt for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent base layer Patagonia's addition to the Merino base layers on the market is a great one. It's very tight-fitting, so you can comfortably wear it under lots of layers if you're going out in the cold. I also wear it alone or under a light wind jacket for high-energy activities in mild weather (like early season climbing). Despite being form-fitting, the stitching won't bother you at all, as Patagonia has designed it so that the stitches don't hit high-use areas (like your elbows). Another great design feature is the thumb loops; they mean that you don't have to fumble around with the sleeves when you're putting on lots of clothes before an ascent. Unfortunately, I initially found this merino a little scratchier than other ones out there -- like Icebreaker or Smartwool -- but a couple of washings helps with that a bit. As far as style, the striped design looks pretty great and will help you stand out from all the solid black- or gray-clothes people out there, if that's your thing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great base layer for skiing This is my second purchase of the Patagonia Merino 2 LW Crew. It serves as a fantastic base layer for skiing. It also works for runs in brisk autumn weather. It keeps you warm, wicks away sweat, and dries quickly. Best of all, it doesn't smell. You can actually wear it a few times before washing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Base Layer Top I've been using various level of the Capalene for years and recently receive the Merino version as a gift. Wow! This is my new Fav. Nothing negative except the price is a bit high.
