I bought my first pair of Patagonia's duck pants in 1998, when I got my first teaching job and needed something respectable but not too fussy. They were perfect then and I've bought half a dozen pairs since. They dress up fine with a jacket and tie, but are also great for casual wear. The material is soft but wears like iron. My only complaint is that Patagonia seems to be constantly tweaking the cut, so they never fit quite the same from year to year. Still, these are the best everyday pants out there.
These pants are fantastic. Softer than some other canvas pants I’ve worn, but tough as anything. They beautifully fulfill the functions of both jeans and chinos: built to take a beating, while nice enough for business casual. I’ve found them to be pretty true to fit, meaning they’re a bit vanity sized, since that seems to be the norm these days. As stated, their tighter, thicker fabric makes them a bit warm, but I wear them three out of four seasons.

I have been loving me some Patagonia lately! These pants are no exception. I went to three places and tried on 10 pairs of "other" pants and did not like any. I then realized......wait.........Moosejaw.......they always pull through and they ship quick. Went for the Patagonia pants because of the quality and their sustainability efforts. LOVE EM' 100% ORGANIC COTTON Just buy them.....NOW.......quit thinking about it!!!
The Patagonia Duck Pant is the only pair of long pants that I wear anymore. Durable, great fit, naturally breatheable. They seem to have been replaced by a lighter-weight "all season" pant that I have not yet tried. You will not be disappointed.
These pants are very nice looking and super comfortable! I'm 5'7" and 155 lbs. I would say they run a bit large especially in leg length (maybe I have stubby legs but I had to roll them up a bit.) I'm very happy with this purchase.
I wear these pants for work, both in the office and in the field. They fit great, are durable, and go well crossing over between field work and office work. I can pull off a client meeting and then hit the field without too much trouble. Outside they are warmer than a typical pant due to the tighter and heavier duck material. They seem to do better when going through underbrush and have not developed pulls from thorns. No problems with a wide leather belt going through the lopes- my wife says they look good with a plaid shirt and vest.As for shrinkage, the waist did shrink somewhat - maybe 1/2 inch. The length probably came up as well, but I didn't notice since I had ordered them a little long. The 34L fit me great even after the slight shrink. I am 185 and 6'2" tall.
"You can wear these pants almost anywhere, and be comfortable."
I'm 5'6" and weigh 148 pounds, so I bought the 32 waist, short (which has a 30" inseam). They're not too tight or baggy. They hold up well. I usually wear them 3 or 4 times before I throw them in the washer. Shrinkage is minimal.I work at a university where casual and business casual are the norm. These pants fit right in, and pair well with a variety of cotton and polyester fabrics. These pants are easily worth the money if you wear them enough. And Moosejaw is a great company to buy them from. They are helpful, professional, and fun. They follow through with what they say, and have a good rewards program.
