Men's Fit Guide Details & Info

Patagonia's measurements refer to body size and NOT garment dimensions. Sorry for yelling about it.

Each Patagonia product is designed and shaped specifically for its intended use, and below are their generalized four fit descriptions, and details about each fit. The Patagonia fit for each style can be found in the product description features or specifications.

• Conforms to the body's contours.

• Closer-fitting. Slim-fitting technical garments may be worn over baselayers and light midlayers.

• Neither slim nor oversized. Regular-fitting technical garments may be worn over heavier midlayers. Men's regular fit pants have a slimmer fit through that thigh, lower leg, and cuff.

• Drapes loosely on the body. Men's relaxed fit pants have a bit of extra room through the hip, thigh, lower, and cuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, lightweight zip neck Patagonia delivers. Bought it for my husband - I have the women's version. The cap 2 is a perfect lightweight, wicking material for multiple activities. Nice baselayer in cooler temps, cap 3 is almost too heavy. As a stand alone shirt it serves many purposes. Prefer the zip neck over the crew neck for ventilation purposes & for sun protection on the front/back of neck plus a little extra warmth when zipped up, it's great. If you need a short sleeve shirt, just push the sleeves up! We never bother with a 2nd short sleeve shirt, just the one Patagonia cap 2 zip neck works best for us. All in all, a nice addition to anyone's quiver of performance clothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feel it breath when it needs to and maintain warmth when necessary! Wore the Capilene 2 right out of the bag to the gym for an hour cardio and lift session. While I was doing cardio and lifting I could feel the shirt wicking moisture away from my body, which provided a cool workout when things got heated. When I went outside in the 40 degree temperatures to walk home I threw my R1 over the shirt and stayed plenty warm on the 1/2 mile walk home. Bottom line, the Cap 2 is a great base and is not meant to be used as an outer layer unless you're at the gym or it's over 70 outside. However, this is a versatile piece of clothing that every hiker should own!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing mid layer Wore this the other day over a capeline base layer and under a solar wind jacket (both Patagonia) and it was great. The 3 combined kept me completely warm without a bit of wind getting through. 20 F and I was warm and toasty, actually almost too warm (which isn't a bad thing). Like all of my other capeline products, I'm going to wash this one by hand as well, then put it in the dryer on very low, just to keep on the safe side. After just a few uses I can say that if you get this shirt you'll be happy that you did.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from light and warm, but not so strong. I wore this product on many trips this spring, I'm impressed the relative warmth that this by light weight base-layer could provide. If you are a climber and cares the weight/warmth ratio most, this is the one to go. There is only one thing I don't like about Capilene 2 material (not particularly about this product) is that the material is relatively weak to wearing and scratching, which may develop into a tearing more easily than Capilene 1. But that's just my opinion...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Great Product This product works fantastic in all climates and conditions. It provides superior warmth and flexibility with layering while snow skiing in negative temperature, or busting through ice while duck hunting. Great at moving sweat away from the body while skiing, duck hunting or running in all temperatures. I have even worn it over a button down shirt and received many compliments. It is an exceptional product that works for any occasion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent choice for high output activity or baselayer I wear this piece every week for all sorts of activities: hiking, running, biking, standing around (under other layers) and even sleeping in sometimes! It's very soft and comfortable, can be worn against your skin or on top of a t-shirt, won't retain odors, stretches with your body movements for maximum comfort, and can be worn several times before needing a wash. Overall it is an excellent choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy it, or you are a LOSER..... Excellent layering piece or stand alone in warmer weather. Took it backpacking as soon as I pulled it out of the box. Delays developing that fun odor baselayers have a tendancy to develop quickly, even after putting it through the paces. Extremely comfortable. Flattering fit. Plus the gecko color gets lots of fun compliments and jealous looks. Simply stated...Buy it, or you are a loser...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great base layer This is the perfect weight for those cool mornings when you hit the trailhead at the crack of down. Also elastic enough for running in. Does a damn good job of keeping you warm and dry. It's also a nice casual piece to wear out, as is the case with most of patagonia's products. Will definitely be purchasing a new one whenever the day comes that I need to retire my current capilene 2.
