"Keeps Pants Up. Cat's love it." 06/06/13
Having gotten sick of my leather belt deforming in the rain or when I sweat profusely from biking on a particularly hot day and staining my waistband, AND because it only had 2 notches that worked for me: so tight I hope you don't have more than a salad for lunch and so loose that I hope you're wearing longjohns to beef up your shapely, narrow hips; I bought this specifically because I wanted a nylon webbing belt with a manual double-pass through buckle. It always fits, no matter the pants I'm wearing or how much I eat.It being nylon means that if it does get the funk, I can just throw it in with the laundry and let it hang dry. My cat loves when I do that because then he gets another opportunity to destroy my things. But even his most vicious attacks hardly damage it. And any strands that do come a little loose I melt back into place. As a climber I value the redundancy and safety of a double-backed buckle, even if it's just for my pants.
"like it so much we got another" 02/02/13
this is a gift for my boyfriend. his blue friction belt has been around forever (so has the boyfriend) and it was starting to get a little dull looking (the belt, not the boyfriend). the old belt is still in perfect working order (as is the boyfriend.) but BF said he wanted a brown belt now and was very particular about the shade of brown -- weird, i know, for a guy to care that much about specific color. the "axel balsam stripe" was the only brown that he wanted and i do hope he likes it when he sees it. the old belt has been great for holding up pants, tying people up, and as a climbing accessory, and we are looking forward to many more happy years with the new one
"love this belt, use it all the time" 09/11/12
I love this belt, I've been through a lot of belts, for some reason I'm very particular about my belts. I got this belt and threw out every other belt I owned, it's that awesome. I got the black one so it goes with pretty much everything. I wear it when I'm mountaineering, I wear it when I'm rocking those pastel shorts from J Crew, I use it when I'm rock climbing and the rope isn't quite long enough. Could probably get away with wearing it as a head band, it's that awesome. I've got a size 32 waist and there is just the right amount of length left over at the end. Perfect.
"As a belt, it holds my pants up...huzzah!" 04/08/12
Bought this hoping it would last me like my old web belts. Durability has been good so far and it's been out in the back woods, the mountains, even hangs out around my waist at work while I'm welding. Only problem I've had is that after a few months of use, it always seems to want to slip loose when I'm doing something important, and don't have the hands to grab the waistline... so I end up duck walking ever so slightly(i'd like to think it's quirky and eccentric seeming) till I have a free hand. I've remedied this by running it double backed...but it seems like I shouldnt have had to.
"Straight up 100% legit i Love it" 01/13/12
As soon as it arrived i put it on and tried it out also i decided i was going to put it through one of my own tests and hung it from my pull up bar and it succefuly held 120pds withought seperating its unbelieveably strong and i love it
"Non Slip Grip" 08/15/11
This belt is great! I got mine with the Fitzroy design and it is probably the coolest looking belt I've seen that isn't gaudy and flashy. True to it's word, this belt has yet to slip on me, a testament to the quality of patagonia's gear. It's reversible too, though I don't know why you would ever want to put the fitz skyline away. It's a tremendously simple belt, just stick the tail in then out and your set. I've heard that the size is so it can be used as an emergency pack strap. True or not, that's a pretty cool idea.
"Great Mountaneering belt for all weather conditions!" 06/22/11
The Patagonia Friction Belt is a great mountaineering belt for a number of reasons. On some of my previous hikes I had worn leather belts that would stretch and disfigure when they got wet. This will no longer be a problem with this belt. The only thing is the belt is not as thick as I thought it would be, otherwise it is great. I am a size 32 waist and it fits great. This belt might be a little small for someone larger waist sizes. It is light, easy to adjust and also easy to pack since you can roll it right up!
"Best canvas belt I've ever had!" 06/01/11
This belt is great. It's affordable but totally does the job. It never slips and looks great even when I'm not in the woods. It's reversible too, and I hear it's long enough to strap stuff onto your pack if in a pinch. It's a bit long for me, but I just show of my fancy knot skills with the excess and it totally takes care of the problem. Of course the belts quality isn't a surprise with Patagonia's reputation. Not only do they do their best for the environment, but their products last!
"the belt to melt for" 03/18/11
I like this belt. It's nice. extremely durable and stuff. I only where it on the trail because I got an ugly color. It's easy to strap and unstrap. Don't have to worry about tightening it throughout the day. Love
