"stops the arctic blast" 02/10/12

I was very impressed at how well the fabric blocked the 15 degree 30mph winds. My head stayed warm despite having such a thin layer compared to the rest of my body. The DWR-treatment repels water very well. The fabric is stretchy, but the face hole is barely big enough to get my head through to use as a neck gaiter.

"Great Balaclava, stops wind, fits well!" 01/03/12

I recently got this for Christmas, and so far it's been great. The fleece is soft on the inside, smooth on the outside (like most softshell materials). Went out for a long walk in 25 degree weather with gusty wind, and it kept my neck, head and face very warm. Looking forward to skiing in this in a few weeks.If you are active, you will be warm in this, if you are idle, you may want another hat on top for more insulation.I usually have a hard time finding hats that fit my large head. I got the L/XL size and it fits perfectly, snug but not constricting.

"Freezer burnt ears are a thing of the past." 02/02/11

This balaclava was awesome! It kept everything on my head and neck completely warm and free from wind blast. You know that feeling you get after your ears have been in the cold for a really long time and then when you get warm, your ears feel like they are burning??? This will save you from that experience for good! Easy, simple, functional with many different uses such as neck gaiter, hat or ninja costume. Two thumbs up.

"Best Clava Around!" 11/19/10

This thing just obliterates the wind while keeping you toasty. The Lg/XL fits my gigantic melon very well, unlike many other clava's that tend to put the squeeze on. Wicks away moisture like a champ, and never feels clammy. I love how variable it is, being able to fully pull under your chin without it feeling all tight, or can pull up over the nose for when the wind starts biting. Buy one. Now.

"Warm? YEP!!" 09/21/10

Got this baby for the extra cold days on the slopes or tailgating for night NFL games. It ALWAYS does the trick! Keeps the face and neck warm and fits well under a baseball cap (increased one size more than normal) or another stocking cap. Also, this rolls up so you can easily stick it in a jacket pocket just in case. This is a great winter piece to keep around!

"This is the best" 03/29/09

This balaclava is the best I have owned. Works great to block the wind. You may need a hat over it if you are skiing on a really windy day. OR makes some of the best stuff though, so you will not go wrong with this one.

OR makes great gear. No exception hear. Nice and long. Soft insideGot the L/XL, maybe just abit too large - I think I have a normal size head. Maybe it was that haircut I just got.

"A great alpine balaclava, nice not to have your face go numb in winter storms." 09/28/07

This is a nice balaclava, but unlike above I don't think it's terribly too warm--if you were going to a really cold mountain you'd want something more like a second hat or a second balaclava denali style, you should have a lighter head layer anyway. But, the wind blocking and water resistant properties make it a winner in my book. It's good to know you can get your face out of the elements in a brief few seconds when you're hanging it on the line at altitude--or when you gotta go out and shovel the drive because your landlord gave you a shtty contract. You can fold the opening up smaller to cover your face too if necessary--all I need.

"A reasonable balaclava" 01/16/07

Does exactly what a balaclava should do: keep your head unreasonably warm. The Polartec layer feels good against your skin andis much warmer than a simple stretch nylon.
