The Outdoor Research Halo Sombrero. Hike into sheets of rain with the protection of this trail-worthy sombrero. The mesh lining and a vent at the back of the crown combine to expel moisture. Magnets on the brim and dome let you fold the sides up for better visibility when the weather clears.

I can make most hats look good. This one was a challenge, but I think I pulled off "hiker chic" alright. This hat is lightweight and dries quickly. The brim is flexible, but it does occasionally bonk the back of your overnight pack (I expect it will get along wonderfully with my day pack). One slightly nit-picky issue: the dome of the hat is just a wee bit baggy. I feel like the extra material bunching up makes it look a little dorky, but the amazing utility of the hat (materials, shape, wide and sun-blocking brim) makes up for that small design issue. I dragged this hat on a 14-mile overnighter through Zion and was mighty glad to have it!
