Product Description Item No.   10210118

The Osprey Viper 9 Pack is a hydration pack for the outdoor enthusiast, whether you're a mountain biker, trail runner, or day hiker. The 9 liter pack is small in size but oh-so-sweet when it comes to providing delicious water straight to your mouth, with very little use of your hands. The BioStretch™ harness combines breathable spacer mesh with slotted EVA foam for a cool and comfy cushion against your shoulders. The sternum strap and webbing waist belt secure the pack against your body to prevent movement, but can be removed if you're not in the mood. The three zippered sections provide enough space for your sunglasses, snacks, jacket and bike tools without causing too much of a heavy load.

Whether connected to a peripheral frame on a big load carrier or as a standalone suspension on a day pack, a well-designed framesheet effectively spreads and transitions the loads across the entire body to the harness and hipbelt. With different material and stay options Osprey can make sure each individual pack has the right load carry for its intended use.

Please note that the info provided above refers to the torso size each pack will fit, and NOT any dimensions of the pack. Below are some steps for how to get your torso length. You should probably have someone help take this measurement for you so it is accurate. And they might accidentally touch your butt.

• Start at the iliac crest, which is the top of the hipbones on the side of your body. These act like a shelf for supporting a pack hipbelt.
• From this level on your spine, measure to the C7 vertebrae, the knobby bone at the base of your neck when you put your head down.
• Make sure you keep your back as straight as possible while measuring.
• This torso measurement determines what size Osprey pack you should carry. Refer to the size charts above to find your ideal size.
• If you are in between sizes, it is ideal to try them both on before ordering.

• Measure around your hips at your iliac crest, NOT your waist.
• A properly fitted hipbelt rides centered over the hipbones and needs to be very snug.
• The padded portion should wrap well around your hips, leaving a gap of 3 to 6 inches between the tips of the both hip pads when securely tightened.
• Refer to the Hipbelts size chart above to help determine your ideal Osprey pack size, but again, your torso length is what should determine your pack size, NOT the hipbelt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact, lightweight but holds everything you need and more! The Viper 9 is a superb biking pack! This thing holds everything I need for quick bike ride after work or an all day adventure in the mountains. It's able to hold all of my bike supplies like extra tubes, small co2 pump, extra co2 cartridges, tire levers and tools. Plenty of room for snacks and other gear too. The hydration reservoir never feels bulky on my back and the magnetic clip on the bite valve is super convenient. The stash pocket on the front is great for stuffing in a jacket if the weather is questionable. I've used this pack for casual cruises and aggressive downhill rides at the resort. It's never let me down and I often forget I'm even wearing it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack I bought this pack even though it's technically a dude's pack but it has worked out great for me! The only downside is that the straps that are supposed to hook around my waist, are actually just above my hips. Totally not a big deal for me and since I am only 5'5 they would be just fine for most guys. This pack holds quite a bit more than I was anticipating. I am able to pack pretty much any gear I want to take with me for a day of hiking. I like that there is a magnet for the mouthpiece. It makes it easy to grab a quick drink and it also keeps it from getting dirty. Bottom line, love this pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pack for day hikes/running/biking I got this pack (in grey, great color with the green accent) mainly for day hikes, but use it for just about every imaginable use, too. It fits plenty of stuff for one person to hike all day, food, water, filter, and I can even stuff a jacket in the stretchy outer portion. The new zip-up hydration bladder sleeve is easy to use, but a downside for anyone who wants it over their left shoulder, because it is now a right-side only hose.,,,,I love Osprey's bladder, as its stiffness makes it really easy to get in and out, and to fill. Works well in a full backpacking bag, too!,,,,Would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No need for anything more! I bought this pack mainly for mountain biking. It is small enough to be comfy and not create an unbalance ride while shredding the trails. As far as the hydration part of it,, well to me the 3L size is perfect for everything. It's not heavy, sloshing around and if ya ride hard enough your only gonna be on the trail a few hours so it's plenty. If ya need more to drink, strap a cooler on your back.. I also love all the extra pockets for my tools, pumps, and an extra jacket for cold or rain, or if ya prefer an extra set of shorts for those unexpected drops on the trail. Anyway I give this pack 5 stars all the way! MooseJaw said it would be delivered in a few days from processing and Boom, I got it 2 business days after ordering!! Top Notch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rugged and Well Designed I have used this pack now for 2 75+ miles bike ride and it has been great to have on these rides. I have the Osprey Rev 1.5 for shorter trips which is smaller and lighter but too small to carry the extra needed gear (bike pump, extra tubes, etc.). This Osprey Viper 9 is great for carrying the food and bike repair essentials I need on these longer rides. The water reservoir holds plenty of water for a long ride and the pack organizes the extra gear well while not feeling bulky on my back. The pack fits well and stays put while riding. I really like the magnetic bit valve, easy to use and liquid delivery is more than enough for staying hydrated. I would suggest buying the Osprey cleaning kit as it makes cleaning and drying the reservoir much easier.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great pack but bladder was a huge disappointment This is my first Osprey pack, and while I am very happy with the pack itself (features, construction, design), the changes that were made to the normal Hydrapak bladder baffle me. The internal ribs, hard plastic hose guide and smaller than usual top opening all combine to make it nearly impossible to turn the bladder inside out - Hydrapak's primary selling point and the main reason I abandoned Camelbak. The internal ribs make for difficult cleaning. There's already a clip/loop to hang the bladder inside the pack, so I don't know why the hard plastic hose guide plate was added. I would have given this pack a glowing review if it had just shipped with a normal 2.5L Hydrapak reservoir with Osprey silkscreened onto it, but instead I'm getting rid of the supplied bladder (want it back?) and will purchase a Hydrapak bladder... which doesn't come in 2.5L so I have to either downsize to a 2 or try to cram in a 3... Grrr.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sporty and sweet! Bought Viper 9 as a gift for the wifey. We've used it just a couple of times, but we've been very impressed. Smart design, cool feature, and great looks make this pack a winner, plus it's the perfect size for a quick hike.
