The Osprey Quantum Pack is a daypack that makes me wonder if Osprey has some sort of pocket engineer sitting around thinking of awesome and functional pockets to add to their packs. Maybe engineer isn't the right word. Pocket Jedi Master might be more appropriate. This backpack features a laptop pocket, an internal document sleeve, an MP3 pocket, a front pocket with a mini-organizer, a front stretch mesh pocket, and plenty of extra room in the bag to spare. Everything has a spot without having excessive pockets: it's a flawless balance of pockets that only the most advanced Pocket Jedi Master could create but is for everyone to appreciate. Ideal for trekking across campus or for a quick overnight or daytrip, this bag is always ready to go and looks great carrying anything. And don't worry about being delicate with your daypack: use it and abuse it without worries thanks to it's durable ripstop nylon construction.

"One of the best school backpacks out there"
I've had this backpack for about two years and it's done everything I've needed and more. It easily carries anything you need for school and then some. It's got great a lot of capacity and it's incredibly well-designed. And should it get damaged, Osprey has its All Mighty Guarantee to fix it. How can you go wrong?
This is an excellent pack. The laptop and document compartments make it a perfect commuter/school pack, and the hip belt/spacious interior allow it to be used as a day pack or even a summer overnight pack. I was looking for the ideal hybrid pack, as I am a student and hiker. This was the perfect solution. The stretchy water bottle pouches CAN hold a nalgene, which is a big plus. 34 liters is great for me, since i carry textbooks, but the comet might work well for those of you who want a smaller bag to tote.
"A great alternative to those dumb Under Armour backpacks"
I use this pack for school mostly. I take pride in the fact that I have a relatively obscure backpack, mainly because I could easily identify it if it were ever stolen or lost, but also because I like to be special. it comfortably fits all of my books along with a light jacket, and that is no simple task as I am taking four AP (college-credit worthy) classes. This backpack is durable too; I have used it both for school and trips for about two years now, and the only sign of wear is from that one time when I accidentally cut it with a throwing knive.....Anyway, this backback can carry lots of stuff and take a serious beating while still looking cool.
I bought this backpack for use on my college Campus and it works perfect! When purchasing the pack the colors are way off so keep that in mind. The backpack is extremely comfortable and sits close to your back if you have the side straps tightened. The laptop sleeve fits my 15 inch laptop, and the smaller sleeve fits a tablet perfectly. There is a mesh pocket on the inside that is extremely useful and the exterior is like that of other Osprey backpacks, which is extremely useful to just throw something in to. My only complaint is that when the top pockets have lots of stuff in them it creates a lump on top causing the bottom part to sag. However, another great product from Osprey!
This is a good backpack and it works well for school or day hikes. I like the style of this backpack. The straps are very comfortable also. The only complaint I have is that the colors displayed on this website are a bit deceiving. I ordered the ice blue color and it is not the blue shown here. It is more of a turquoise or teal color that is a lighter shade than what you see on this page. The color is fine, but it would have been nice to have the color in the picture. Overall it functions well and I am happy with the backpack. The laptop pocket protects the computer well because it doesn't reach the bottom of the bag, so your computer won't touch the ground when you set it down.
I use this as my daily bag for school, carry 2 books, a binder and a 15inch laptop. The weight is balanced very nice in it and doesn't fell nearly as heavy as i thought it should have. It's gone on one 5hr hiking/scrambling trip and has held up well when rubbed against fairly sharp rocks. The pack did not feel too hot when being carried fully loaded down. Great bag. Love Osprey
"super versatile! great for school, work and day hikes"
This pack is perfect for just about all aspects of my life. I'm a college student and it's awesome for lugging around heavy books all day without feeling it in my back and shoulders. I'm studying geology, which means that I'm out camping at least once a month and hiking probably once a week. The pack is great for that as well and has tons of room for all of the gear I need. During the summer I'm a camp counselor and once again the pack provides all of the room I need for a full day's supplies of swimming and activities with my campers. The quality is great and I stay organized no matter what I'm doing with all of the pockets. I love this pack!
"Cut to the chase: my MacBook Pro 15 fits..."
I am a full-time consultant. I live out of my backpack... My backpack IS my office. My Osprey Quantum arrived today, and I made the transplant. Everything fits like it was custom-tailored -- especially the MacBook, which nestles in the sleeve perfectly. The coiled-up power supply and Ethernet cable disappear into the bottom of the bag. All my little tchotchkes fit into the small pockets. Guess what? There is room to spare... I believe I could get away with an overnight trip with a change of clothes and toiletries, and leave my carry-on at home. So, it's more like a studio-loft-workspace than just my office.
Purchased this pack to replace 2 bags. I got tired of carrying a laptop bag and a gear bag for after work activities. This bag has enough space for my work stuff and my fun stuff so it's all good. Lots of pockets and spaces to keep things separated and it fits well to. Bought my wife one too so she isn't the bag lady when she goes into work anymore.
What can I say... This bag kicks serious butt. It is durable, light, and just bad ass looking. Perfect for a day pack or just the avid student who wants to be comfortable trekking across campus. I purchased the ink color because it makes me feel like a ninja. But in all seriousness Osprey just makes a great product with a lifetime guarantee on their bags. This bag in particular is the bees knees... whatever that means.
"Just what the doctor (read orthopod) ordered"
What a wonderful pack! Bought this for use on cycling trips. I inserted a hydration pack in the sleeve provided, and it is now simply perfect. The pack does not produce the dreaded sweaty back, as the fit, technology and materials keep it from lying flat on one's back. In addition, I can easily carry a dslr as well as other items needed for a 5-6 hour adventure. Couldn't be happier with the pack. In fact, it's now my carry on of choice, having replaced a beloved Patagonia bag.
"For hiking, school, small daytrips and adventuring."
Love this pack, keeps my back cool when hiking with the water bottles and has the cross-straps across the chest and hips to keep it in place while running. Using it currently as a backpack for school. love the extendable side straps for when you don't have as many books in there! :) The strechy pocket keeps many objects in it secure and has not lost its shape yet! Bought it in NZ for a daypack and used it everyday, 10 months later its still going great!
