I really love the color of this jacket, and its super warm. There's an awesome inside pocket with detailed instructions about what to do when you're CEO for the day. Hilarious! I'm keeping it because of this awesome pocket alone. The problem with this jacket is.... not a very flattering cut. Super long sleeves and torso. Baggy in the midsection. Did I mention super long sleeves? Hmmmmm. But love that pocket!
My daughter keeps taking this jacket from me. She is 20 years of age. We were on vacation on the West Coast of Florida during Spring Break and the weather was from 40 degrees, 26 mph winds, to 60 and raining. Everytime we would go somewhere she would find my jacket first and then ask if she could wear it....Humphrey. It is warm up to 50 degrees and no wind, and better with a wind chill with a softshell.
"I've worn it ever since the right size came in the mail"
I bought this after being talked into it during a lengthy live chat that was initiated for no other reason than to annoy the Moosejaw service rep, which turned out to be impossible. Fortunately, she's in graduate school (in sociology) and is working until she graduates and finds a job, so I'll be able to annoy her forever. When this first came in the mail, I tore the bag open and immediately put the jacket on. GOOD NEWS IS I hadn't torn the jacket while opening the bag. BAD NEWS IS the medium was way too big (despite having spent an inordinate amount of time debating the correct size with the overeducated service rep)--I'm 5'4", 102 (really--I do weigh 102 and can eat my way through a box of cookies nightly. Don't be a hater. I'll probably end up dying from sugar shock). GOOD NEWS IS (are you sick of this yet?) Moosejaw is great about exchanges. MORE GOOD NEWS is I've worn it every day since because it's AWESOME. I might even take it off to wash it someday.
I really like the style of this jacket. It has more class than a regular hoodie. It is so soft, love the contrasting stitching. The hood ties are stretchy. It has inside pockets too. I haven't worn it much yet as right now it is 20 below zero and it isn't warm enough for that but, I could layer it. The only down side/plus combo is that it has a slim fit which makes it look really classy but, if I eat to much the hips could get to tight.
But unfortunately too big! I'm usually a medium in MJ gear (from past experience and using their sizing chart) but I was swimming in this jacket (which may be a good thing if you want to use layers under it). I put in a call to MJ's fantastic customer support to see if this jacket would shrink and they said no. I've placed an order for a small and am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a perfect fit!
