"The softshell I have been searching for"
Some will say that a softshell is not a necessity, but I have always been a fan. They work great for me. My problem is that I am tall, 6'3" but very lean. Most jackets fit my chest, but are too short. This is especially true with alpine cuts jackets like Mountain Hardwear. This jacket fits me perfectly. A little strange that I am a medium in anything, but I am not complaining. I also searched long and hard for a softshell with a hood. It rains often in the Spring and Fall here. This jacket is ideal for me when I walk to work or for fall days on the trail with light rain. It has withstood constant light rain and wind very easily and am confident it will handle, as a shell, Rocky Mountain hiking this summer. Best jacket ever.
My first softshell jacket from Moosejaw and I'm sold! The fit and finish is comparable to any other name brand jacket. I haven't tried it out in a downpour yet, but it seems very water resistant. It's windproof, but still breathable. I was a little surprised that I was a size small; I'm 5' 10", but thin.Have you ever bought a piece of clothing and you instantly knew it was your favorite? It's one of those.
"True To Description... Versatile, Comfortable, Good-Looking Jacket."
First off, I get compliments on this jacket all the time. But seriously. This is probably because I wear it too much and because of the boost in attractiveness I get from wearing it.Actually though, this jacket is breathable and extremely versatile. I've worn it in a range of temperatures (from the teens up to the 50's), an it's been a great outer shell for multi-layering as well as just on top of a base layer. Also, the fleece lining is SUPER SOFT. I would say the combo of versatility and comfort here is the biggest strong point. In terms of features, most of them go above and beyond what I would have ever thought of, and that makes it even that much better. The velcro on the sleeve ends is not the kind that gets caught in stuff, the chest pocket has an mp3 cable hole, and the hood's adjustment pully-things are helpful for when there's an unexpected rain. It sheds water fairly well, but I can't speak too much on this yet.Buy it!
