Product Description Item No.   10118826

The Metolius Safe Tech Waldo Harness is a wide harness for big wall climbing. Waldo is not only just a man in a red hat and striped shirt, but also a harness with a super wide waist and leg loops for the utmost comfort when hanging for hours during the climb. Thick, 1/2 inch foam increases the cush so you can continue on with setting the course. Setting up a rappel or multi-pitch belay? It's all the easier with tough, dual loops at your center. Six gear loops allows you to place as much gear as you need, wherever you need it and three double-back buckles secure you inside the harness.

FEATURES of the Metolius Safe Tech Waldo Harness

  • Updated diamond pattern body fabric
  • Drop seat rear elastic
  • The world's most comfortable big wall harness
  • (1/2" / 12 mm) thick slabs of foam contour around waist and legs for ultimate comfort
  • Monstrous components (5-5/8" / 143 mm) waist belt, 5" / 127 mm leg loops) spread the load on extended nailing missions
  • Our patented, adjustable-rise 3-D system creates the best-fitting harness in the world
  • Super-durable, closed-cell polyethylene foam with fleece lining for maximum comfort
  • Dual front belay loops to minimize gear clutter
  • Sizing Note: When fitting the Waldo harness the buyer should choose a size that will allow them to tighten the harness a few more inches from what feels initially comfortable
  • Wall climbers find that after a few days on a route, with a load of gear clipped to the harness, the ability to faux further tighten the harness is crucial

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Huge padding for big wall/photog/etc. Huge padding in all the areas you need it, great big beefy gear loops that you can hang a portaledge off of without any qualms. The main criticism of it vs other bigwall harnesses is that it dosnt have detachable leg loops, but this is false, you most certainly can! I was also worried that the gear loops are quite rigid, and sleeping with them sticking straight out would be an issue. Slept 3 nights in it just fine.,,issues:,,1) the tie in points are small. Fitting a rope, 2 belay loops, girthed daisy chains gets to be a PITA.,,2) sizing. I'm a 32" waist and I quaffled between the medium and the small. Went with medium and wish I had gone small.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Overkill? The Safe Tech harness concept has probaly saved at least one person from what would probably have been a fatal mistake and I do rate the Sport model for use in the climbing gym, the Waldo is just a bit much. I rerally do prefer the padding on my Black Diamond Big Gun, even though I only wore the Waldo in the shop, the Big Gun's thermo moulding mean that it'll hold it's shape under load better...I think. Two belay loops may have its advantages but then I've never had a harness with 2 belay loops so I wouldn't have any techniques for them anyhow.
