Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shoes, on our 4th pair! These shoes are GREAT! My husband is the general manager of 6 bike shops, so he's always on his feet, and these are his shoes of choice! They are easy to get on and off, but when you need it, they're easy to tighten. In addition to being great for work, if we want to go for an impromptu hike, there is nothing better. ,,,,Fit is a tiny bit big as others have mentioned, they're also a little bit on the wider side (definitely not narrow) as many Merrells are.,,,,We're on our 4th pair -- not because the others have fallen apart, but because my husband keeps giving them to his boss's teenage son when he wants a new pair :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stylish, Comfortable and who needs laces This is my second pair of Chameleons, and the second pair is as awesome as the first pair, except the new ones smell better.,,,,My use on the trail has been limited to day walks and many hours of busting the city blocks of foreign locations without a blister. They are super comfy and are stiff enough to provide adequate support. They are great for scrambling up rocks to.,,,,The draw string lace system rocks, especially at airports when you have to take your shoes off. Who needs to tie laces after you have been on a flight for 15 hours and crossed a gazzilion time zones.,,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great all year around shoe I've boughten the Chameleons every year for the past 4 years. They slip on easily yet hug your foot to stay on. I use these all year around from hiking in the woods, walking around town, playing disc golf and trekking through some snow. The shoes aren't waterproof but just buy a $5 can of waterproofer and they will be. Although they work great in the snow the treads on them lead to some slipping during the winter. They run a touch big i think, but the Chameleons always have. Merrell makes fantastic products that last and feel good, can't go wrong with them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best alternative to tennis/running shoes I have owned 5 pairs of Chameleon Stretch version lightweight hikers over the past 7-8 years. Obvioulsy, I keep going back to them; they are super comfortable and need little break-in. I use them for everyday footwear in lieu of tennis, running, or cross-training footwear, as well as for biking and day hikes. The inner lining at the counter has in previous versions deteriorated more quickly than the outer, but I have had to reglue (gorilla glue) the vibram sole where it meets the upper's leather at times, but never before a year of steady wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth Owning I've owned the Chameleon Stretch 2 and the Chameleon Stretch 3, so it was inevitable that I'd eventually own the Chameleon Stretch 4's. They just keep getting better (althought the 3's are the most visually appealing) and these feature the same quality you'd expect from any other Merrell shoe. Now go buy 'em before all the cool kids do.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sweet shoe Over all a great product from Merrell. I got about 2 full years out of these shoes, 2 years of hard use. These are a perfect lighter and more breathable pair of shoes to go hiking with. I wouldn't suggest carrying a heavy load while backpacking or trekking for long distances, however they are perfect for light to moderate hiking and around town. The mesh panels on the side really help the shoe ventilate, which makes a perfect hiking shoe for must of summer. The shoes are fairly durable, but they will only handle so much abuse before they start to fall apart. The mesh panels seemed to deteriorate first, maybe they could invest in a stronger fabric for the mesh. Overall, I love the shoes and have used them from Vermont to Colorado, from hiking to hanging around the town. The best part about the shoe is that you don't have laces, side them on and pull the cord and your ready to start your adventure. The cord stays fairly snug once you tighten your shoe,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Merrell chameleons BEST SHOES EVER My husband LOVES HIS CHAMELEONS. When he got paint all over his pair he was very upset so I bought him another pair for an Easter surprise gift. These shoes last a LONG time, very comfortable, very easy to slip on since these have a no tie/bungee strap, and they look nice with most outfits including jeans.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great, everday shoe I bought a pair of these for the male human I reside with at his insistence. Since he had always shown an aversion to any type of footwear that was not worn by 16-year-old skater boys, I was a wee-bit taken aback. After a week of hard wear (hiking, fishing, brewing), he can't say enough good things about them. He has several foot problems (flat foot, sweating, etc) and these really address all of them. The arches are high enough that he doesn't need to wear his special insoles and they breathe really nicely so I don't have to deal with the stench of death when he takes them off. He loves them so much that he bought two more pairs, just so he has them for when these eventually wear out. He's going to waterproof all of the pairs so they are a little friendlier in the brewhouse as well. He also loves that he can wear these without socks and his feet don't get all slimy. I am delighted that he is now wearing "big boy" shoes and that they are working so well for him. Highly recommended.
