"Solid rainpants that simply do what they say" 05/04/13
I currently own multiple pieces of raingear and have always been fond of the PreCip line from Marmot. The pants are light, breathable and do the job. They pack down nice and small for travel in the backpack or portage pack and are true to size for wearing over your clothing when Mother Nature tries to derail your plans for some outdoor fun. After tearing the seat out of my last pair, I got this updated version with all the features I still love about these pants. I've never got wet wearing my old ones or so far, my new ones. There's a reason why the PreCip's have been around for so long.
"Light, breathable, decent weather resistance." 04/19/13
These are great just to throw in your pack. They don't take up much space, they're light, and it's always nice to have them just in case. They're comfortable enough to wear around camp as a light layer. They're decently breathable too, which is nice. They're not super durable or weatherproof, but about what you'd expect for the weight and price. They'll keep you dry for a little bit, but if I were going to do a big trip somewhere real wet I'd spend more money and get more protective pants. I'm 6'2" with a 33" waist and the XL's fit but were a little loose around the waist.
"Good product for the price (kudos for long sizing)" 04/04/13
They worked great this winter as a waterproof shell for biking to and from work every day. Kept me dry on a few very cold rainy days, and cut the wind as well.No problems, they come in long sizes, and are a great value. Buy this.
"Can't be beat- the rain pant I always carry." 01/03/13
For a waterproff/breathable pant, these are SO small and lightweight, I really don't mind tossing them in my pack/golf bag/glove compartment, if there's any CHANCE it might rain. And on several occasions I've been VERY glad I had them along, when I wouldn't have carried heavier or bulkier pants. I've worn mine hiking, snow camping, even for light-and-fast climbing on occasion. They've worked great in all situations. My mediums pack down to the size of a banana. Not as durable as a full 3-layer goretex pant, but the price & weight makes it well worth the tradeoff.
"Best Rain Pants I've Ever Purchased" 12/02/12
Best rain pant you'll ever own. I'm a pretty avid golfer and this is the perfect solution for those rainy, United Kingdom type of days on the course. Sometimes, if you try and purchase a nice pair from a certified golf store, the cost can be $150+ and still have a little bit of water come through the material. Not with this. Perfect in every condition I've used them in. Light rain, medium rain, slightly heavy rain. Haven't put them through a monsoon test, but maybe that will come. If you're every outside when it's fairly rainy for a longer period of time, you need these pants.
"Best Rain Shell Pants" 03/31/12
Packs down small. Super light. Shields the rain amazingly. Great to slid on over what you are wearing, yet comfortable to wear just as light pants. The pants are well designed for fit too, so they are comfortable. A great pair of pants to have for layering, combine with thermals or other pants for warmth.
"Best, lightest, rain pants on the market." 02/15/12
These thing keep you exactly ow you want to be...dry. Which is great because if you've ever had to finish those last 5 miles back to the car/camp/wherever in the rain the you know how much that sucks, especially if it's particularly cold or windy or both. You can even fold them inside one of the pockets for compactness as well as shove them inside the pouch of the precip jacket.
"Don't try sneaking up on somebody....it won't work" 02/08/12
These pants are decent. I'm 6'1" and weigh 165. I bought the medium long/tall. They may be a tad long at most, but overall I am happy with the fit and am going to keep them. I tried them out today, as it rains everyday here in Meadville, PA. Worked fantastically on my hike, and I'm sure they will get a lot of use this summer. Totally worth the investment if you don't enjoy walking around with doused trousers.
"Excellent raingear for backpacking and riding a motorcycle" 12/23/11
The marmot precip pants are very good for the price. They pack down nice, are easy to put on and take off, and are delightfully comfortable! Be careful not to walk on the bottoms of the legs (I.e., be sure to get the right length) or they will deteriorate very rapidly. Besides this, I would highly recommend purchasing this product from MooseJaw if you are in the market for quality raingear.
"Does the job" 11/02/11
Got these pants after I spent a weekend camping in the pouring rain. Waterproof pants are a must for anyone that lives in a rainy climate and the Marmot PreCip pants are a great product! Light enough to stow away in drier weather but simple enough that you can slip them on when the rain comes out. I've worn them in massive downpours and stayed completely dry. Comfy and stylish, especially when worn with the PreCip jacket. Overall a good product for a decent price.
