The Men's Ama Dablam Jacket by Marmot is an ultra-light down-proof fabric providing the perfect amount of protection for a wide range of activities from a strenuous mountaineering excursion to a light stroll through the city. This down jacket is quite popular and practical with its versatile features. You're miles from home base and the temperatures start to plummet. Luckily, you'll be ready with your 800-fill power goose down jacket for maximum warmth. As the conditions start to get severe, adjust the down-filled hood so its snug around your head, tighten the elastic draw cord hem and Velcro/Elastic cuffs to keep your body insulated and the cold air out so you're good to go! Once you've adjusted all your adaptable features to meet the demands of the brutal weather, bury your paws in the Handwarmer pockets for a little extra comfort, and then chill, or de-chill. You get the point. Once you're back in a sheltered area, remove the jacket and use the Inside Zip Stuff Sack Pocket allowing you to put the whole thing in its own pocket for space saving travel, leaving you room to take a few of those 'I want to take them, but don't need them' items.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just spectacular The first thing i loved was the weight, second has how well it compacted. it folds into its own pocket (witch is lined with fleece) and that is about the size of a softball. but it is some how extremely warm. It says 800 grade down, but on a zipper inside the coat at a chest pocket it says 650, but no big deal. i have herd read some reviews that say it isn't good for skiing through trees because it doesn't have a tough skin. it sheds snow just fine when mountaineering or ice climbing and belaying or something. just don't let it sit in the snow for a long period of time because it may get a little wet, but not to bad. i am 5'11, 160 and have a medium and it fits just right.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from -14F and Stylin! I spent the last week in the Kingston Plains in the U.P. of Michigan, and I literally lived in this thing from morning to night. We had one night drop to a low of -14F and I was feeling good chatting with friends. Between the versatility of the fuzzy hand pockets to the warmth of the large chest pocket my digits, Snacks and BiC lighter kept from freezing solid. Not to mention the over sized hood is amazing, helps create that nice warming tunnel for the air around your face, good ole snorkel look! would recommend this jacket to anyone spending long periods of time in the backcountry and looking to add a great down layer to their outerwear to keep warm on those cold days in snow country.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super warm, super soft, and packs really well. All climbers must have a down, its a rule. I would suggests the Ama Dablam. The coat is super light so you don't even feel like you're wearing anything. Great for cold nights out around the fire or cooking after a day of climbing. The fleece lines pockets are beautiful, your hands will never want to be anywhere else. The material is holding up really well i haven't been necessarily nice to it and its only got one small hole (stick fight). But what is a down without a few ducktape patches? I would definitely buy another one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight warmth Used this three time this winter ice climbing. This weekend the temps were high teens with winds about 15-20mph. Threw this bad boy on when not climbing and hated to take it off. Serious warmth for its weight. Compresses nice and small into internal pocket. Moderately wind proof but the trade off for light weight is worth it, IMHO. Stylish for around town wear, I get a lot of compliments on this when out and about. Not for serious arctic conditions but a good belay jacket for down to about 0 deg f.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect first off, this coat is ridiculously light! i could not believe when i took it out of the box to try on. The shell is a light nylon this has a small bit of shine to it. i purchased the black color and love it. The fleece lined pockets are great for the winter to throw your hands in when you don't want to put on gloves. with a patagonia synchilla snap t pullover underneath, this is a perfect combo!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lighweight ridiculously warm Stuffed this in my pack to go up Mt. Washington. A friend's crampon came off on the summit so I threw it on while we stopped. I was toasty warm while we sorted it out but should have taken it off before continuing down. Way too warm to be moving in. I've worn it out in the 20's with a t-shirt and been fine walking around town. Don't know how the fabric would hold up to skiing through trees though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Light and mostly warm I really like how light and warm this jacket is, but if I had one comment it would be that the seams on the sides (especially under the armpits) really let in some drafts. There seems to be little to no down to trap in my warmth in those parts. I recommend wearing a nice base with this jacket to keep from loosing a lot of heat out your pits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from extremely light, compact and warm jacket This is the jacket you can rely on. It's very warm and lightweight (like wear nothing at all).,,It has surprisingly comfortable, soft and warm hood - so you can forget about your hat. The same about gloves - hand pockets are rather big and toasty.,,It packs very small into its own pocket, so easy to take the jacket anywhere you take a trip.
