The Marmot Boys' Guides Down Hoody is a puffy jacket for winter on the playground. The Guides Down Hoody gets it's handsome good looks from the adult version, much like your son probably gets his baby blue eyes from you. The 700 fill power down inside the wide baffles traps warm air against his body, keeping him warm throughout the snowball fight. The down features Down Defender, which enables the down to resist moisture and keep him warm even if it gets wet. It's one of those crazy-cool revelations in the outdoor world, just enjoy it. The outer fabric is a 100% polyester ripstop for strength that has been coated in a durable water repellent finish for additional water resistance. Just brush off snow like it wasn't even there in the first place. The Angel-Wing Movement keeps him mobile and unrestricted when outside and elastic cuffs wrap closely against his wrists to prevent drafts. The zippered handwarmer pockets close mittens inside when he gets to school, so perhaps you'll get through a winter without having to go to the Lost and Found.

DWR tech

Durable Water Repellant
DWR (Durable Water Repellent) is a coating that is applied to fabrics which makes them water-resistant, or hydrophobic. A DWR finish doesn't interfere with breathability, which makes it perfect for adverse conditions in the backcountry.

Marmot Down Defender

Marmot Down Defender
Marmot Down Defender helps prevent down from clumping when exposed to water or moisture. This allows it to keep its loft, which equates to greater insulation. Nothing will stop the specially treated, highly water-resistant down from trapping warm air next to your body.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Believe the Hype. Bought this for my 6 year-old son after I picked he and his Dad up from a day of skiing the slopes together in Utah. Dad was fine. But my son, who was wearing average "kids-quality" ski clothing was freezing and crying. Ordered this jacket online that night. He has been completely warm and happy skiing in all conditions ever since. Purchased the matching Marmot snow pants for him at the same time and completely threw out all of his former bad-parenting cheap ski clothing. (p.s. Then, I saw the difference the clothing had made for my son and thought, "Why am I letting me own hands FREEZE every time I ski? So, I bought some Marmot snow mittens for myself. Life changing. Warm hands all day! Life changing. Made me feel like an idiot that I have been skiing cold for so many years.) Marmot, if you ever read these, I'm a raving fan. And I don't think I have ever left a review for anything purchased online anywhere ever before.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Warmth, poor zipper I bought two of these jackets in February 2016. It is now Nov. 2016 and the children fit into them. The jacket is very puffy and very warm and looks sharp. Unfortunately the zipper is a cheap plastic that gets warped and zipper gets stuck often. Sometimes the zipper can't even latch together for zipping. I had to fidget with zipper for 5 minutes and prayed before it finally caught on for zipping up. Why Marmot chose this cheap plastic I don't know. It's like putting the cheapest tires on a Cadillac. The jacket is beautiful, puffy, and very warm. I have absolute confidence sending my kids out into the Alaska wind and cold with this jacket. Wish the zipper was better quality, though.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warm and well made. Bought this coat for my 11 yr old son and he loves it. It has all the features you would want at an exceptional price point. The only con that I've notice is that the hood doesn't have a draw cord.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We love this warm and cozy coat I bought this jacket Linchen/Greenland 2 years ago in a Medium for my 6 year old (at the time). He loved it and kept him warm and cozy. Since he outgrew it, I'm getting him the Peak Blue/Slate Grey in a Large now. Can't wait til it arrives. New York is getting cold.

We are going to a Green Bay Packers game in Dec. Just wanting to find out what temp this jacket would be good down to? I have seen some of the other ones rated for down to -10. Would this one be good also? Will it keep him warm to that temp?

Asked by: Ronn
At 700 Fill Power Down with 100% Polyester ripstop and Marmot Down Defender, this jacket is a great option for taking on a midwest winter. There is no specific temperature rating since it is very dependent on the amount of activity and the body temperature of the person wearing it, but this jacket is meant for the frigid winter temperatures and will keep you about as warm as one can be in -10 degrees.
