Product Description Item No.   10238525

MSR WindPro II Stove is a versatile camp stove that aims to meet all of your group cooking needs. It can run in traditional upright mode for efficiency and flame control or the canister can be inverted on the included stand to deliver liquid gas directly to the burner. That was almost word for word from MSR's site because, let's face it, they know more about stoves than I do. (If this were a product description for wearing a hat sideways, I'd be the authority). What I do know about this stove is this: it weighs in at a lightweight 6.6 oz, packs into a one liter pot, and boils water quickly even in cold weather and at elevation.

FEATURES of the MSR WindPro II Stove

  • Inverted Liquid-Feed: Inverting canister allows stove to run on liquid fuel for increased cold-weather and low-fuel performance
  • Remote Burner: Added stability for use with large pots and allows the use of a windscreen for maximum efficiency
  • Supports pots up to 10" maximum diameter
  • Compatible with bake ovens
  • Stove combines the stability and wind protection of a remote-burner design with the convenience of canister fuel
  • Unlike other canister stoves the WindPro II is capable of running on liquid-feed direct from the canister

Please note that stoves DO NOT include any fuel bottles or canisters pictured. Sorry about everything and please don't hate us.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WindPro works well in winter conditions I bought the WindPro specifically for use in colder temperatures where upright canister stoves start to degrade. I have used it in cool fall conditions (~37F) where putting the canister in inverted position noticeably improved stove performance. I also took the WindPro on a winter camping trip where temperatures were around 20F and when using the stove with canister in inverted mode the stove performed very well for melting snow and boiling water in a 2L pot. This stove is much easier to set up than a white gas stove, no pumping required - just fire it up, wait 30 seconds, then invert the canister. The only real downside is dealing with all the pieces, windscreen, base, etc. along with the inefficiencies of heating a standard pot. That was a factor in my also obtaining a WindBurner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Versatile Stove This review is actually for the original version of the stove, the current model improved on an already great design by adding the ability to officially (and easily) be used with an inverted fuel canister for very cold weather. The burner and other components of the stove are the same between the models. The Wind Pro has been a consistent performer for me. It shines in it's ability to *simmer* which is key to cooking food (as opposed to just boiling water). It also does a good job melting snow with it's wide and adjustable flame. I've used my stove in all 4 seasons and have never been let down. For a do-it-all stove, the Wind Pro is a strong contender to think about, if you just need to boil water maybe look at a more compact option like the Pocket Rocket (which I also own). After several years of use I kinked the fuel line somehow and MSR was able to quickly service it and get it back to me. Five stars all around! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty, pretty, pretty good. Used this guy whilst hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. Had no troubles boiling some beans at 12,000 feet. Comes with a nice mesh carrying case and windscreen. It's an older design but surely bulletproof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little stove I've used this quite a bit over the last few years. Has always worked well, and doesn't use much gas. I recommend to make sure and pick a level spot, as a bigger pot of water could be a bit unstable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Reliable This is the stove my family and I have used for the past couple of years (8 I think...) for backpacking. I lights easily and can get food ready for a family of four in no time. It has worked great for weekend to extended weekend trips. Never had any problems.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It works great as a stove, not super sturdy I used this stove on a six week backpacking adventure across the US. I used it at least twice a day, dinner and breakfast and each time I had to screw unscrew the gas canister. After 5 weeks the threading on the stove completely wore out. I had to switch to cooking in a jetboil because I simply could not screw on the gas. They don't sell a repair or replacement kit for the gas mount but were super cool about replacing the stove. It should have lasted longer than 5 weeks. ,,,,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from most convenient meals I've ever eaten. I bought this in 2011 and brought for my deployments over seas. This piece of gear brought me hot meals when no one else could.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Warms your stuff Great stove if you don't want a tippy canister stove that you can't use a windscreen with. This burns very hot and boils extremely quickly. Works really well with MSR pots, as they have a texture on the bottom that is designed for use with their stoves. Used both a small cup and a Flex 3 set without problem. It doesn't have an igniter, so I recommend the piezo igniter that is sold separately.
