Rated 5 out of 5 by from best stove I purchased this stove after using a jetboil for a year. I brought it up to the BWCA for a 6 day trip with a friend and was amazed at the job it did. first off it is super compact and light-great for backpackers that are going on long trips. this stove is really fuel efficient which is very important when going camping for a long period of time. it is very easy to set up and ignite. this stove cooked all of my food very well and is much better than my jetboil. it simply is the best compact stove used for longer trips and great for cooking for up to a small group of campers. have a fantastic time using this stove on your next adventure!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 22 years and going! I have purchased every piece of gear for bike touring, backpacking, camping, etc. Every piece of gear base eventually had to be replaced: some pieces of gear several times. I've been through 6 tents, 5 sleeping bags, 3 backpacks, 2 pot sets, 3 sets of bike panniers... you name it. Only one item has persisted since my teenage years: the MSR Whisperlite International. It has been around the world, used primarily with automotive fuel for consecutive days (on a few year long trips and also multi-month trips) and it has been 100% reliable throughout that time. I think about it regularly in wonderment at how something could last so long.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bomb-proof.... I've had this stove now for about 6 years or so, and have to say that it's simple to use, easy to clean, and very solidly built...even after stumbling out of tent in the middle of the night to heed the call of nature, and then accidentally kicking it down an 8' ledge of canadian shield granite. While I've only ever used white gas in it,I have a friend with one that took the same stove to do relief work in Haiti after the earthquake, and used gasoline in it with no problems. My only complaint is that it doesn't "simmer" as well I'd like, but the best workaround is just pay closer attention to the meal when using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Almost perfect for everything! I had used a Whisperlite in the past and decided to buy one last summer. I work a rigorous field season backpacking ~50 days in our short Montana summer. We had been using the MSR pocket rocket and burning through a lot of fuel over the course of our 7 day trips. After picking up the Whisperlite the amount spent on fuel drastically decreased. The pocket rocket was nice because it had a simmer setting however if you're going for fuel efficiency over long cook times and long trips the Whisperlite is definitely the way to go. This thing does not simmer so if that is important to you go for the Dragonfly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Universal Use I find this stove extremely useful no matter the trip or place. I bring this on everything from car camping to long backpakcing trips. As far as backpacking I only bring it when traveling in a group, otherwise I find it to heavy. Fuel availability is a huge plus. The stove is technically not made to burn unleaded gasoline but I have many times been able to refuel on a multi-week trip by just hiking out to the nearest gas station and filling up the fuel canisters. Most of my trips are 8,000ft plus and I have never had an issue with lighting the stove or maintainting steady heat. Five stars from me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has served me for a long time This was another piece of equipment that I had put extensive research into in order to get the best possible performance for the best price. This is a robustly built little stove. It is super small when folded up, light and produces great and fast heat. It cleans easy and I have never had any kinds of problems with it. I have never needed to use the deisel/kerosene jet that comes with the International model but it takes up very little space and its nice to know I have the versatility if I need it. Its a great little stove and nice to not have to buy little compressed gas throwaway canisters of fuel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most reliable I'm so happy that I got my hand on a whisperlite instead of something else. I've been using the whisperlite stove for a year now. From -30 degrees celcius to +30 degrees celcius, In winter storms and in heavy summer rain and I've never had any problem. It's amazing how reliable the stove is when it's so simple and lightweight. Alot of my buddys been using Primus and Optimus stoves - And they work aswell. As long it's perfect conditions. They tend to fail when you need a hot meal or when you really need to melt some snow to get water.. + Reliable + Durable + Lightweight + Melts snow in a good pace + Fuel efficient + Easy to handle - Sooting pretty fast (But not a problem, easy to fix)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable stove that I have used since 1992 I bought a MSR Whisperlite Internationale stove in 1992 and am still using it with no issues ever. Top quality and built to last I've used this stove in all types of environments ranging from freezing cold to extreme heat and it always has performed. I recently needed an o ring for it and I called customer service and they sent me some free of charge. Awesome customer service so I decided I needed to send some reviews. I have used MSR products over the years and it has always been too quality dependable gear. I also use a MSR Micro Rocket stove for shorter trips and love it as well. MSR ROCKS!
