"These pots are the biznez" 01/24/13
Love this setup, everything just nests right into each other with the option of leaving one pot home. The deep dishes are perfect for holding soups or a meal without burning your hands. Have yet to try the insulation mugs with hot drinks, it seems the metal rim of the cups may burn those lips when taking sips... will test that out later and confirm.
"Excellent set but too much for me!" 12/31/12
I've used this cookset on numerous adventures from hurricane disaster to cycle-touring (10+days). GOOD THINGS!-light-easy to clean-big enough-non-stick-plenty of room-can take just half of the babyNOT SO GOOD THINGS!-durability of cups-cup lids fall outI've found that for most trips I haven't needed two different pots. For one other person and myself, one pot and one plate does fine. Because of the extra pot, i've easily cooked for four people by making two portions in two pots. The one issue that I had was that the mugs weren't durable enough. Either that, or I am an ogre. Within our first ten trips, the lids no longer fit within the mugs.
"When you need a set of pots and plates for 2 but don't want to take up too much space, this is it!" 12/02/12
For a while, i would take pots, pans, plates, and cups for day hikes thinking they would get the job done. However, having so many different pots and plates made it difficult to fit in my day pack and heavy as well. Enter this set and my problems have vanished in the haze. This set is lightweight and plentiful enough for two people. When the outdoors demands a kitchen set, MSR rises above the rest to answer the call!
"compact and works like a charm" 08/03/12
i got this as a gift for my buddies birthday and he loves it, i have also used it numerous times and i have no complaints, everything fits nicely inside and perfect for 2 person trips of a solo adventure
"great to cook in and pretty darn light" 05/09/12
I just got this cookset and took it out on a three-day backpacking trip. I was really very pleased with its performance and packability. I left the nonstick smaller pot at home, which lightened the load quite a bit. The accessory pieces (plates/bowls, mugs) were all very functional for meals on the trail. I liked the folding handle very much; it kept cool...no need for a potholder of any kind. The capacity is great. You could probably easily cook a meal for four or more in the larger pot. I'm thinking about getting the MSR Quick skillet to go with the set (pancakes, anyone?). I would definitely recommend this set for anyone's next backpacking trip.
"Good set, very compact. Mugs need a new design." 04/01/12
I like this set- it's very neatly compact. On some trips for two I think you can probably leave a few pieces behind and use the extra space for food storage. The plate/bowls are cool, the detaching/folding handle for the pots is excellent and the pots are pretty easily cleaned. My biggest (and only) complaint is that the mug tops don't really latch in, they just fit on top and will tumble off if the cup tips. While cleaning out the tent, my boyfriend knocked my mug with tea over, and rather than having a small manageable spill from the spout, the whole thing emptied onto the floor.
"Best cook set I have ever owned" 01/30/12
If you backpack regularly and have a camping stove then this cook set is for you, it comes with everything you need except utensils. The set is extremely light and compressed for easy storage. Don't know how I ever did without.
"Great compact durable AND space saving cookset" 06/14/11
I got this along with the MSR pocket rocket stove a few years ago. I'm not a backpacker, but I do camp TONS. Especially at summer music festivals around the country. This cookset was perfect for a few reasons. one, it allowed me to cook my own meals. thus saving me money, since I didnt have to buy $10 burritos at these events. second, its extremely compact. space is always an issue when loading a car full of people and their gear. Since this cook set packs up into a neat and tidy SMALL package, it was perfect for my needs. It is also extremely durable. Tons of use and it is still going strong!
"Great set-up for two people , just add silverware and you are good to go!" 06/08/11
This is a pretty good compact set up to take along with you, it includes plates, cups, and a pot to cook your food in. The handle folds up over the lid to lock everything in place and the lid really helps keep the heat in while cooking. With the extra space in with the cups (while its all packed up), I have a couple of the MSR salt and pepper shakers, and filled one with garlic and Red Robin Seasoning which is delicious on anything! and a scraper with a few other kitchen items which makes more room in your pack for other gear. I just wish everything was titanium for even lighter weight.
"great product, with some minor yet irritating flaws." 04/16/11
I really like the way this kit fits into itself, the non-stick pots are really great. The first problem I had was with the mugs. When used with hot liquid, the metal inserts would warp and the tops would become real loose and fall out. You could push from both sides and bend them back in, but over time, I think it would eventually break them. The other issue I had was with the plastic plate/bowls. The inside is textured and holds grease after something like spaghetti has been in them. You really have to scrub to get them clean. It's just minor stuff, but I thought I would give a heads up so others wouldn't be disappointed when they bought it.
"Awesome product" 03/25/11
This is an extremely great compact cookware set. The two pots that it comes with is clutch for having two different things being made such as pasta and sauce for example. It folds down perfectly and it very light. I am able to fit my compact stove in as well which also saves on space. Very good product.
"This set is good for all of my needs" 01/17/11
I bought this pot on the recommendation of a very experienced backpacker. I have found that it is great for me, as I usually take freeze dried foods and boil water mainly. The best thing is that depending on what you take with you you can fit most MSR stoves inside the stove for extra space in your pack. This is very helpful for beginner backpackers because we tend to pack way too much stuff.
