Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not a bad filter Great filter, I used it for two summers straight with needing to replace the filter. I cleaned it after every backpacking trip. Lost the pre-filter once and had to replace it. I didn't make sure it was connected to the tube properly in a high flowing creek.,,The pumping action of filters can be exhausting in general.,,I don't use filter anymore. I have moved on to tablets. Much smaller and easier to use.,,The storage of this filter is a little bit bulks, as most pump filters are. Which is another reason I went to tablets. People complain about the tablet taste,....I don't notice it at all.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from At first, was great.... After using this about 10-15 times, it got incredibly hard to pump. I thought the filter must have been done. I was surprised, it was still like new. I ignorantly bought another and it didnt change a thing. I have followed all Manufacturer cleaning and maintainance guidelines and still, nothing has fixed it. The only reason i use it now, is because it cost me 100 hard earned dollars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Filtering. This is a great and fast filtering system. I was able to fill up most of my groups water bladders faster than anyone else, because it filters such a huge volume of water so quickly it also clogs up very quickly. I try to filter the clearest, fastest moving water that I can find and even then this filter clogged quickly. Despite that issue, I absolutely love this filter and will continue to use it for as as long as I can. P.S. for extended trips (if you don't mind the extra ounces) bring an extra filter. Good Luck.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Pump I've had this filter for a few years. It is easy to use, but has some small pieces that could be lost during use if you're not careful. Can get tiring to pump and a bit slower than other pumps. But it is also very light and small compared to others. Very good micron reading so can be used anywhere in North America. And even though it doesn't filter taste I don't notice it at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works very well, fast. This filter is awesome, a little pricier than some of the other MSR models, but if you've used them and then try out this guy you'll see where your extra money went. Very fast filtering, produces clean, drinkable water. Haven't submerged it in any muck puddles yet, only clear water, but It's done the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet! MSR is great stuff. When it comes to water filtration you must get the correct equipment. After a 9 day Wyoming hike I decided to make a change in equipment. Bought this bad boy and I am so glad. Much easier to fill a 1 liter bottle. Only 20 pumps not sixty like my last filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get one! Super light and effective. I bought this for a trip on the AT and used it the whole week with great success. Clear and tasteless water, super light and very practical for long and short hikes. one bladder, one nalgene and this bad boy is all you need for any extended hike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great filter I've used it several times in moving streams. Haven't had any issues as of yet. But I also haven't tested it out in murky water. Love how compact it is.
