These snow shoes are fantastic! I use them all the time and they still haven't broken! The bottom line is that if you are in need of some good, cheap snow shoes, this is the way to go!
Really should fit all of your needs unless you will be doing some more extreme mountain trips and dealing with very deep snow. This shoe has managed to suit all of my needs for mountaineering and backcountry trips to date. They work well for ascending most hills and seem to be pretty durable.
"Absolutely the Most Versatile, Durable, Functional Snowshoe"
11/26/11
I find that these are the most Versatile shoe on the market because of the binding and strap system, it is super easy and will fit anything from a gore-tex running shoe to a snowboard boot. They are extremely durable snowshoes because of the simplicity in their single molded pvc platform design, these shoes are engineered to last a lifetime and if need be, have the ability to be repaired in the field. The molded pvc single piece platform allows the snowshoes to flex with whatever terrain is under your feet and also allows snow-pack under the shoe to not build up. With the steel crampons and optional floating tips you can tackle anything on your next snowy adventure!
I have used and looked at a lot of snowshoes and these are by far the best. They are the best gripping snowshoes thanks to the steal traction strips running down both sides and the huge middle crampon. They are made from composite material so they are super light, strong, and flexible. When paired with the MSR Evo tails (sold separately) the add an extra 6 inches of flotation (ability to stay above the snow). The difference between the MSR Evo and the MSR Evo Ascent is the the Ascent has a bar the flips up and it helps when climbing steep hills. The bar reduces calf fatigue. I highly recommend these snowshoes and any of the other MSR Evo series snowshoes. I give these a 9 out of 10.
Gave up on my A_-_- snow shoes because the straps freeze up. Test drove my new Evo's in 14" of new powder. I am now driving a Cadillac!!! There is no comparison. The heel lifter saved my calves on the first hill climb. Bottom line is that I can't even tell that I am wearing them!!! Make a purchase!!!
