The two pot set includes a 1.5L and a 2L pot, so you can put the second one on for coffee while you mix up oatmeal in the first. The lid works on both pots and even doubles as a plate. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light weight & indestructible I've had my Alpine 2 pot set for years during hikes in the Pasayten Wilderness, the high Sierras and throughout my home state of Maine. I've mistakenly let food bake unto them for hours in white hot coals and had to bend them back into correct form after being in a pack run over by the side of the road. None the less they remain in good shape and pack light; if you use the small pot as a cup and the larger one for meals no other cooking gear, except maybe a spoon, is necessary regardless of how adventuresome your recipes become. Soups, coffee, even biscuits all came out fine. This is tough light multipurpose cook set that may well outlast me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light, Strong, and Clean I chose the Alpine 2 Pot set for one reason: No Teflon. They've take a beating inside and out and they aren't about to quit. Sure steel is a little heavier than aluminum, but with the piece of mind that chemical-free stainless brings these pots take the cake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect pot set for 2 people I was given this as a present and used it on January 1st/2nd this year for the first time as I went winter camping with my girlfriend. The pots were great to use, easy to compact and light. They also held a lot more food then I expected them to which was a great surprise. We used the pots on the MSR Dragonfly and it was stable and I was never concerned about it falling or tipping over. I'd recommend this to anyone who does back country camping as a 2 person party. It was amazing. Only good things about this product - and it makes me want to try more MSR products

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Weight I purchased the MSR Alpine Set in 2013. I have taken these pots on backpacking trips in Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Brazil. The weight and size are ideal for long or short term adventures. I spent weeks in the Scandinavian backcountry, car camping in Iceland, and a few days in the Amazon Jungle. Each occasion these pots were perfect for my needs. I couldn't think of a better set for the quality, weight, and size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable, durable, and well built While these may not be the lightest pair of pots around, they still hold their own against the competition. I agree with the previous reviewer who stated that the lack of a non-stick coating is a plus: every non-stick coating I have ever seen comes off over time even if you only use plastic utensils. For the sake of durability (not to mention that I'd prefer not to eat flakes of non-stick coating), I'd rather not have the coating in the first place. The included pot lifter works quite well: you don't really even have to squeeze it to lift the pots, and it holds them stably and securely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply perfect Was looking for a little more than a solo kit - and this one fit the bill. Camping for two - did everything that was demanded without any extra weight or " unnecessaries "

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great pots for every adventure I bought this set 3 years ago, I have used it for trekking, expeditions and trips around the world. The pots are just perfect, the material is durable and the size is fine for two people. I use the big pot for cooking and the small pot for tea. The only thing I would improve is the pot hanging tool, which is made out of aluminum and it´s too soft for a pot full of food or water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very durable cook kit I have had this cook kit for 20 years. The only thing I changed about it is I painted the bottom of the pots black. This made them more efficient for conducting heat. My kit looks as good today as when I first purchased it. It has been used on every back packing trip and deployment I have been on over the last 15 years. It is the right size for making food to feed up to 4 or 5 people. The clean up is always pretty easy even with burned on food. I use the MSR Apline Dish Brush/Scraper to get my pots clean, this is a great tool as well.

What are the weights of the individual pieces? I am thinking I could leave 1 pan behind when I wanted to travel lighter... Also, does the lid/fry pan still have slots in the lip so I could use a shoelace strap to keep the whole unit together?

Asked by: Pedal pastor
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out to us! I had to bust on down to the Returns section to weigh these suckers....but it was totally worth it. They're a good bunch of folks. So, the 1.5 L pot will be 6.4 oz, and the 2 L pot will be 7.2 oz. The lid is 4.8 oz. And, yes, the lid will also have slots so you can use a strap to keep them together. Also, you do get a stuff sack with these! Hope this helps you out.
