I struggled to find hiking boots that were comfortable, protective and functional. I tried these on and immediately fell in love! 2 weeks into my backpacking trip everyone had blisters except me! These shoes fit well and fit right! Even though they are more light mountaineering boots, you can take them backpacking and they work great. We did some unexpected bouldering on our trip and these boots were even awesome for that (compared to clunky leather boots or tennis shoes)! I love that these shoes are so versatile!
Light, waterproof, fit like a glove, wicks well [feet stay dry though wool socks are pretty damp at end of day], great foot, ankle and stance stability. No break in, just go. Got a pair for the spring mounds[have not used in winter.] So good, decided to use instead of my Latoks for hiking/packing. Suggest a superfeet, thicker lace and sock experiments for comfort backpacking. Bought pairs for spouse and daughters. With most Sportiva, go a half size (.5mm) larger than other European and best for low-medium volume foot.
