LA SPORTIVA FIT GUIDE and INFO

La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.

Please review La Sportiva's size conversion chart above to help determine your ideal size. Below you will find additional information about how to fit and break in the different styles of La Sportiva footwear, which will also help guide you to the correct size.

ROCK CLIMBING SHOES:
• As a general rule soft shoes like climbing shoes require a tighter fit, or about two to three sizes smaller than your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva recommends you fit your trad climbing shoes one to two sizes under your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva offers a lot of lasts, and each offers a different fit and feel. Remember to factor in potential stretching.
• Unlined slip-lasted shoes tend to stretch a bit more than lined shoes, or about one full size.
• Lined shoes stretch about a half size.

ROCK CLIMBING SHOE FIT SYSTEMS:
• PERFORMANCE FIT - offers a high performance fit and a downturned last.
• TECH FIT - a more technical fit and a last with neutral profile.
• COMFORT FIT - a comfortable fit and a last with more volume and a neutral profile.

HIKING, BACKPACKING and MOUNTAINEERING BOOTS:
• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and add one half size.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from great beginner shoes, but fall short on tougher climbs The upside - The lacing system can be easily customized to fit any style of foot. The soles have held up extremely well for over a year of climbing indoors and out. They are great for smearing on every type of rock. These are the shoes that I loan out all the time to friends who have never climbed, and even though they have sloppy foot work and tend to wear them more on dirt than rock these shoes renew their stickiness after a good cleaning. ,,The downside - When it comes to more technical footwork, or anything overhanging these shoes just don't have the stuff. For anything higher than 5.11 or V6 you should probably look for a shoe with a more aggressive down turn.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all-around shoe I have had this shoe for a couple of years and it hasn't let me down. My one warning is that they stretch quit a bit. So plan accordingly depending on how tight and technical you want them. I believe I got one size smaller than my street shoes and they stretched out to be the perfect all day multipitch shoes. The only thing I have had to do is resole them once and that is completely expected. The rubber all around is great for cracks and hooking. Also, the lacing may sound complicated but it isn't that bad and they have instructions online if you need to relace them. Overall I highly recommend them for climbers of any experience level.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most comfortable and versatile shoe out there. A great all around option Shoes are all about personal preference, and I absolutely love these shoes. They are super comfortable, even in a half size smaller than other sportiva models. I can wear them all day without discomfort, which is so important for long days outside. Because they are entirely suede they also never smell. These shoes are also exceptionally easy to resole, making them really affordable over their lifetime. Great for edging and cracks not so much for crushing your super overhanging boulder problems, but c'mon. Some people think they look funny, but for the performance and comfort I'd wear them if they look like clown shoes.,,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great rock shoe for long multi-pitch trad routes The Mythos is a comfortable and durable rock shoe. I also own a pair of La Sportiva Katanas that I wear for short, very hard routes and for bouldering. The Mythos are the shoes I go to for multi-pitch trad routes when I will be in them for extending periods of time. They do not have the edging or hooking ability like the Katanas, but they also do not hurt like hell when wearing them while belaying and walking off routes. The Mythos also perform much better on slabby rock and when smearing. I have also owned Scarpa shoes and Five Ten Anasazi lasted shoes and I find that La Sportivas are by far the best, but that might only be because their lasts fit my feet so well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great beginner and all-around climbing shoe As a beginner I was looking for a shoe that would be versatile aggressive enough to help my progression into the 5.10 realm, but simple and comfortable enough so I can wear them for extended periods for endurance work. The Mythos is obviously a lace-up, where other popular shoes like the Anasazi have convenient velcro straps, but I don't really think this is a disadvantage. The Mythos lace winds back around the heel of the shoe, allowing you more freedom in the fit. By pulling the lace tight around the back you can make it conform to your foot to really grip the rock. One note about this shoe it WILL stretch fairly dramatically. Though I have been able to compensate by drawing the laces

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Save a little longer and get these!! I just picked up a pair of these and I LOVE them! I wear a 13 street shoe in everything from Nikes to Merrells to my dress shoes and ended up buying a pair of 44s. My second toe is a little longer than my big toe which has caused some issues with other shoe brands/models but not with the Mythos. This is the only shoe aside from the Nago that fit my foot I think the Mythos looks better. After about a week of climbing in the gym my Mythos stretched out about 1/2 a size and ended up fitting me like a second skin. I'm a new climber and I'm glad I didn't waste my money on inferior shoes that don't fit correctly only to have them wear out causing me to spend MORE money. I'm glad I didn't listen t

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Versatile but not durable I bought this shoe since I am just getting into trad climbing. It is by far the best shoe for smearing that I have ever owned, and it makes for comfy foot jamming. I was also surprised by how well this shoe boulders. It edges well and does quite well on overhang.I have never once felt that the quality of this shoe held me back. I've worn it up to V6. however, the leather construction is particularly durable. On the left one of mine, three of the lace loops have ripped, so the shoe doesn't fit so well now. This happened about 3 months into wearing the shoe

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Climbing Shoes I've Ever Used!! I bought these shoes about a year ago. I picked them because I loved how they looked and I wanted a shoe that fit tightly to my feet. I've been climbing with them about 2-3 times a week since then and I have never had a complaint. Since the laces stretch the length of the shoe, you can have it fit anyway you like. They're so comfortable that I can wear them all day without any pain. Good, stiff edges on the sides and toes for small footings. My shoes are a year plus old and they are still in good shape. Fairly durable shoe
