LA SPORTIVA FIT GUIDE and INFO

La Sportiva footwear is built and offered on European half sizes, which are smaller increments than US half sizes. This gives them four extra sizes per size run, and ultimately gives you a better fit.

Please review La Sportiva's size conversion chart above to help determine your ideal size. Below you will find additional information about how to fit and break in the different styles of La Sportiva footwear, which will also help guide you to the correct size.

ROCK CLIMBING SHOES:
• As a general rule soft shoes like climbing shoes require a tighter fit, or about two to three sizes smaller than your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva recommends you fit your trad climbing shoes one to two sizes under your street shoe size.
• La Sportiva offers a lot of lasts, and each offers a different fit and feel. Remember to factor in potential stretching.
• Unlined slip-lasted shoes tend to stretch a bit more than lined shoes, or about one full size.
• Lined shoes stretch about a half size.

ROCK CLIMBING SHOE FIT SYSTEMS:
• PERFORMANCE FIT - offers a high performance fit and a downturned last.
• TECH FIT - a more technical fit and a last with neutral profile.
• COMFORT FIT - a comfortable fit and a last with more volume and a neutral profile.

HIKING, BACKPACKING and MOUNTAINEERING BOOTS:
• Find your US Size in the guide above, then find the Euro Size conversion and add one half size.
• The ideal size holds your toes ever so slightly away from the front of the boot while the lacing system is snug across the top of your arch.
• If you can try to boots on beforehand, make sure you wear the same size and weight socks you would typically wear with the boots, and any orthotics or custom footbeds you use.
• It is ideal to fit boots later in the day since feet are prone to swell slightly as a day progresses.
• Wear your boots indoors only until you are confident about the fit.
• Your foot should feel snug (not tight) from the arch back into the heel pocket with just a minimum lift as you walk. If your heel lifts make sure the lacing is snug and not too loose.
• Your toes should NOT touch the front of the boot, but when you kick the toe into the floor, you should know where the front of the boot is. You want just enough room to wiggle your toes.
• If your toes or sides of your feet feel squished, most likely the width is too narrow and the boot will not work for you.
• If your toes touch the front of the boot, most likely it is too short and you need the next half size up.
• Make sure to keep all original packaging that came with your boots until you are sure that you are happy with your purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Su-Weet These are some super comfortable and very versatile kicks. They have the look and feel of a climbing/approach shoe, but the support and construction of a light hiker. Just wore them all over Manhattan for the holidays and then took them straight into three days of hiking the Jefferson National Forest. They fit the bill for both occasions. As for durability, the other review kind of scared me because the lace system does look like it has failure potential, but so far I have had no problems. I would highly recommend, and my feet are hard to please.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Where have you been all my life? Wore my last La Sportivas' 32 years ago, but can't remember on which planet I was at the time. Now, back to earth, this La Sportiva Men's Boulder X Mid GTX Boot makes me feel like I am in boot heaven. I am enjoying great design and look, true and comfortable fit, real functionality, and NO, I do NOT sleep with my boots on! So, what are you waiting for?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good boots! These shoes fit a little tight compared with hiking boots of the same size, but they're supposed to be for approaches. They're a lot lighter and a lot better for edging than the Vasque Wasaches that I own, but have less arch support. The tight fit makes them pretty warm too, so if you're doing anything vigorous, keep that in mind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really comfortable, fashionable, and durable I bought these not knowing what to expect out of an "approach shoe." I was pleasantly surprised! A pretty shoe...but, don't let that sway you. This IS a technical boot. Great for hiking, general walking, or "approaching" (whatever that is). Warning: Buy this shoe 1/2 size up from what you would normally wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Boulder X: The Approach Shoe for Me! I like more ankle support so I recently bought a pair of the high tops to use for the ascent of the Grand Teton two months from now. The shoes needed to be comfortable enough to hike the 7 miles up to the Lower Saddle, but technical enough for the Exum route on the Grand. I'm currently hiking 6 - 7 miles up and down hills and I have to admit that I love these shoes! I used to have a pair of 5.10 Guide Tennies, but the Boulder X is a much better shoe in my opinion. Maybe not as comfortable as the Guide Tennie, but the shoes feel like they grip much better on rock and still are comfortable to hike in even with the snugger fit. Right out of the box, I hiked 6 miles in the Boulder X and no blisters. Make sure to order a one-half size larger than you normally wear, and you'll probably have as good a fit as I do. I wear a thin poly liner sock under a pair of Smart Wool hiking socks and the fit is just perfect. The shoe is of high quality and very durable. The Gore-Tex liner is a big plus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great boots These boots are the best tree climbing boots I have found in 8 years. For the price, I highly recommend. They take a little while to break in.
