"These boots really hold up to their reputation" 05/10/13
I was hesitant about buying these boots seeing as to how most people said that they ate good for casual hikes. I initially bought them for a 2 week trek on JMT on pretty rugged and varied terrain. I have taken these in a handful of long day hikes and they have held up really well even in the loosest and slipperiest conditions. I have to say I'm pretty satisfied thus far. Also I have to mention how comfortable they are! They feel great on my feet and they even eliminated my heel and knee pain from previous injuries! I have definitely found a new favorite hiking boot
"Wanted a comfortable walking - light hiking boot---Love this boot" 12/29/12
I got my husband a pair of these boots to wear turkey hunting as they were recommended by the guys on the turkey forum. He thinks they are the most comfortable boots he's worn. Well, long story short, (well I guess not really short) I liked them so much that I got a pair. I have problems getting footwear wide enough for me, (I have duck feet, short and wide). These fit perfectly. Also I have bunions from standing at my job for 32 years and these boots don't hurt them. I love these boots. Since this is really ratings for two items does that qualify for double points? ;-)
"Kick them into the ground and they'll keep on giving." 12/09/12
Had my pair for about a year (of heavy action). They have survived every type of weather and just now started to loose their water resistance. True to size, wide in the toe, super supportive arches.
"Warm, Dry, Good to Go" 11/04/12
I bought these near the end of the hiking season (for me, anyway - not much of a snow hiker) and so ended up storing these away until the snow fell. Once it did, I figured I'd give these a try as winter boots because they're comfortable and not nearly as clunky as my other ones. They were perfect - my feet stayed warm and dry, and the grip was great, even on some pretty deadly sidewalks. I have no doubt that come next year I'll be hiking up a storm in these.
"Perfect for a wide toe box!" 05/31/12
This review is for the Targhee I. My wife has a wider front and a narrow heel, and she loves these. She wears them everywhere including work, where she is on her feet most of the day and on concrete. We try to keep her pack to no more than 30-35lbs and complains of no foot fatigue. Her only gripe is they are not waterproof, so on multiday hikes she brings another pair of much more expensive boots. She still much prefers these out of all the boots she has tried. So glad she has found a pair that works, and bonus they are much more affordable than most she has tried.
"I love me some Keens!" 05/03/12
I had some day hiking Keens (low tops) which I love, but needed something with some ankle support for the first section of the John Muir Trail in August. I already had high top boots, but hated the way my feet felt trapped in them all day. I went with this Keen boot because I love the wiggle room in the toes and my feet feel great at the end of the day.I've taken them out for a few break-in hikes and really they didn't need it. No hot spots and great support for my whole foot. I even tromped through some stream crossings on purpose and through some snow and my feet stayed dry. Love 'em!
"Totally Love these" 03/07/12
Talk about comfortable and well made. These will be great protection from the cactus also, which is why I opted for the less breathable over more protection since I walk along totally oblivious to what is near my feet while I am focused several feet in front of myself spotting crystal formations lying on top of the ground. And - don't bother to ask where I am crystal hunting, it would be like asking me where I fish and where I hunt (sorry!). Love your sense of humor. What a great addition to the current negative trend going on in our economic "crysis" (spelled wrong on purpose of course).
"Must purchse item or regret owning that POS boot you bought instead" 01/24/12
Solid boot, warm, good traction, foot stays dry... What more can you ask for? I would for sure buy another pair. Watch the sizing it seems sorta odd I got a 9.5 thinking it should fit no problem with a wider toe box and it was small. 10 fits perfect.
