"Best filter ever" 05/24/13
Used this for 5 seasons on a trail crew. The first summer we went through two other brands that lasted approx 2 weeks each before we got the Katadyn. This is an expensive filter but works well with turbid water and is easy to clean. If you're looking for a reliable, lasting performer this is the one to buy.
"THE BEST WATER FILTER....PERIOD!!!!" 12/14/12
I spend most of my time outdoors in the backcountry and long distance travel near populated areas. This is the most reliable, long lasting, no nonsense, well constructed piece of equipment I have carried. Backpacks fail, tents rip, boots wear out, clothing wears, my Katadyne pocket just keeps on going. The craftsmanship and reliabilityis unmatched!!! You can go without food, can have sour feet from miles of walking or damaged shoes, get rained on, be cold, but you have to have safe water. With acid rain deposition, increasing water polution, and beaver and water fowl waste this filter is a necessity. It is always in my pack, and always will be. Buy it!!!! You'll have it for life!!!
"Very Heavy but Well Worth It" 08/18/11
This water filter is pretty heavy. It does however, fit into its case nicely. Its a nice zip case just a little bigger then the pump itself. It's very sturdy and easy to use. The water tastes great and clean. I have used it several times and can tell it is here to last for many more outdoor adventures.
"Excellent built" 06/12/11
This is really the water filter to get if you don't want to be disappointed. Heavy but built like a tank. The ceramic filter last a long time and is easy to clean. My first few liters has an odd ceramic taste but that goes away after the a while. It does appear expensive at first but consider the saving you get over time. A great value if you use a water filter often.
"Will not filter out virus !!! Joseph, you do not know what you're talking about !" 06/03/11
Will not filter out Viruses !!!Joseph, you do not know what you're talking about !Look it up !!“Solid construction, great tasting water!” 10/25/09. When they declare marshal law, and begin forcing H1N1 vaccination, this little gem will come in handy while evading the government's attempt to inject my body with a soft-kill bioweapon by supplying me with an endless amount of potable water. The silver impregnated filter will kill stuff that most ceramic filters may not. I highly recommend you don't get the H1N1 or any vaccine, but you should purchase this water filter.by Joseph [X]Joseph
"Solid" 12/28/10
If you don't mind carrying the weight, this is the most reliable/bombproof pump I know of. Sometime it becomes a bit of a pain to clean it, but it won't let you down. Bought it for the AT and it lasted the entire trip. Also, it's really nice knowing you don't have to worry about when you need to replace the filter in it, because the thing lasts forever.
"Buy it! Buy it! FOR REAL, BUY IT!" 12/07/09
Where do you replace your filter in an apocalypse? You don't! So if you were smart enough to not skimp on your water filter and you have this one you are good for years! Unless you are trying to save everyone, then maybe only 6 months.

You can survive for days in the wilderness without food, but wont make it long without clean water. I highly recommend you don't get the H1N1 or any vaccine, but you should purchase this water filter.

A must have if you are trekking for a while and have no sort of water refueling station. This baby pumps it out fast and allows you to drink even faster. Also it filters away all those harmful bacteria and stuff so you are left with a satisfied tummy. It is a bit pricy but well worth it. It is about the length of a hair brush and about >1.5lbs. Sort of heavy but again better than having to carry a 24 pack of water.
"Why cheat yourself?" 06/06/09
Money well spent on this product. Why would you want to skip on ensuring your most vital fluid is pure and healthy? Not only does the water that comes out of this sweeeeet filter taste great, its easy to use and clean! Lets not forget this bad boy is backed by a 20 year warranty. Not many products today come with a 20 year warranty! Invest in yourself, your family, your camp buddies, give them the cleanest water on the trail!
"Solidly built/great design/Definately recommend" 08/01/08
The first time I used one of these was in the dirt laden Colorado River in the Grand Canyon. It took me maybe 15 minutes to pump a liter of water...but if you've ever seen the Colorado River, you'd know why. This filter filtered out every little microscopic bit of sediment that the Colorado threw at it. I've sense used it in Big Bend, the Great Smokey Mountains and the Black Hills of South Dakota. Still impresses me. Downside...it's a bit heavy and a little expensive when compared to other hand pump filters, but I've never used iodine/chlorine tablets and with this, I never will.
