Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good shoes for beginners These shoes are great for beginners. These are more comfortable and less severe then shoes you would use for more intense climbing. The downside is that if your feet sweat at all, there isn't a lot of ventilation and they tend to hold onto smell (especially the tongue of these shoes) I have noticed this the most with the men's version of this shoe. However you can wash them - don't dry as the rubber gets too hot (it will cool, but it will leave black streaks in a dryer - a friend of mine actually did this haha). The other feature I love about these shoes is the velcro. Overall, great for beginners and those looking for a comfortable climbing shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from you need to buy these shoes I've had these shoes for over 3 years and they are my favorites! I have had my current pair resoled twice already, and I still think they are awesome. They don't have a super stiff sole, so they aren't as technical as other shoes out there, but you can wear them all day no problem (if you're interested in multi-pitch) and they'll still treat you well on harder single pitch. They are great for smearing and cracks, they grip will, but are OK on edges. One thing I prefer about these over a more aggressive pair is that these have great sensitivity in the toe. In my other shoes, I find I have a harder time finding the small toe holds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great all around beginner shoe & comfortable, but not very sticky I started using them for the gym and then took them outdoors after a few months. The velcro is an amazing feature (take them off between climbs while people with lace ups look at your aired out and rested feet with envy). I’m a 7.5 and have wide feet, and got them in 7. I used them frequently for 2 years with no holes or tears. They’re comfortable enough to keep on an entire day of climbing, and they're good for all around maneuvers, even with cracks & edging. But they’re difficult to heel hook with and a major downside is they’re not very sticky. They're a little heavy and you have to air them out because they do stink up quick, but all around, an awesome beginner shoe!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the best climbing shoe I have ever owned, I have bought three pairs in a row! This climbing shoe is absolutely perfect! The fit is perfect for a woman's foot, with a natural comfortable arch and a roomy heal. It is the perfect combo- tight enough to feel the rock, but comfortable enough to walk around the gym or trail. Other climbing shoes you have to sacrifice performance for comfort, but not in these. They are breathable on hot outdoor climbing days and hold up well, especially compared to Mad Rock Shoes. Honestly, these shoes are excellent for a gym climber or someone who climbs outdoors often. Serious outdoor climbers who never step foot in the gym might need a stronger shoe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome value for a great shoe. I recently bought these after years of climbing in my 5.10 Diamonds. I found these to be comparable to the Diamonds in performance. They're comfortable but high performing if you get them tight enough- my street shoe size is 7-7.5 and I bought these in a 6.5. They're synthetic and won't stretch as much as leather shoes, so don't get them too tight thinking they'll mold to your feet as other climbing shoes will. Great for the climber who likes their shoes tight enough that removing them between climbs is essential (hello, velcro!). They're a very soft shoe, great for smearing. And who doesn't love purple?!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great beginner shoe (but kinda stinky) These were my first "real" shoes after I graduated from borrowing my friend's old ones. They're very comfy and don't really stretch (non-leather) so it's an easy breaking-in process for a newbie. Had decent footwork with them -- sole held up to some pretty heavy use until I got a whole in the front after a year and a half. Not a bad run. I ended up buying other shoes at that point instead of resoling -- for the Elektra's low price, it's just not really that worth it. They are pretty stinky, and heel hooks are damn near impossible with their low-cut style - mine would always pop up. However, for the cost, I wholeheartedly recommend them to someone getting into the climbing groove.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They're purple!!! Well actually, though I do appreciate the color, I bought them because they were cheaper than other shoes. I love that these shoes have a really low heal volume. The back part also doesn't dig into my heal from coming up too high like I have had in other shoes. Heal hooking can be a little iffy if you buy them really small...I would worry a little about my heal popping out of the shoe just because the heal area is so shallow. Also, not exceptional for edging....the toe is pretty rounded. I still would say, for a beginner or someone looking for a nice all-around comfy shoe, this is the way to go.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice edging, good fit Ordered these as my second pair of climbing shoes, after retiring my basic Mad Rock lace ups. I prefer the velcro to laces, since laces seems to wear out frequently. Be careful with the size on these. If possible, try on some Evolvs first to see what works for you if you're not familiar with the brand. I ordered these and they're a touch too small - after some use they're not stretching much. Fits my feet well otherwise and the shoes edge well - decent heel protection for heel hooks too. Rubber is nice, I like the two tabs on the heel and there's some good cushioning under the velcro.
