"Favorite pack I've tried. Highly recommend for large/heavy toddlers!"

I've tried 3 Keltys(all nice), my friend's Eddie Bauer (total crap), my brothers Chicco (eh). I have been happy with the Keltys I've tried, but this Deuter is my favorite for my toddler who is 40 lbs and over 3 ft tall. It also is very cozy for my 1 yr old baby. Both kids enjoy it. The waist belt/strap is large and comfortable for the adult. The adjusting of the strap height is a breeze. Plenty of storage space. There is a little pocket on the hip I use for pacifiers. Side entry for the child. The only trouble I've run into is on one hike my daughter kept her arm out of the pack the whole time and rested it on the side, she got a rug-burn type rub under her arm from it.

I am 5' 7" 140 lb and my husband is 5' 11" 165l b and we can adjust it in seconds to fit us both comfortably. Our daughter started using this at 6 months she was in the 90%, so on the big side.. the straps fit a little loose around her but still she was very secure. She is now 10 months and fitting in it perfectly.. with tons of growing room. She really loves it. there are plenty of compartments to store things, comfortable for you and child, sturdy and durable and it is light weight for long hikes or shopping..we couldn't ask for anymore out of a carrier. we love taking our daughters with us on our adventures and this allows us too!
"I love the pack and so does my son, at least i think so he sleeps in it most of the time....."

I bought the deuter I and used it once and returned it. After hiking with it I could see why they went with the variflex system on the deuter II. When I hike I'm out for 2+ hrs easy and with the variflex system there is less movment with the pack over rough terrain. If I was going to use the pack for walking on firetower roads, walks around town or trips to the park and didn't need the storage, I would go with the deuter I. For long hikes you will not be disappointed with the deuter II it has all the storage you need while toting around a 20 + pound kid. All the weight is on you hips and legs so after long hikes your back wont feel the strain of the weight.
