Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for when light-weight and portability are you top priorities. First, these are not do it all poles. If you're looking for something that will work for casual walking, snowshoeing, backpacking, and doubling as a support for your tarp shelter, you want something a little burlier, adjustable, and capable of accepting snow baskets.,,,,However, if you like to combine travel and outdoor pursuits, these are amazing! No other poles offer the same combination of small packed size, light weight, durability, and very comfortable grips. ,,,,The downsides are that they aren't as stiff as some poles, they won't accept snow baskets, and for some people with larger hands, the grips are a little slim for all day comfort.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Costly...but worth it After I got a chance to use these on a 70 mile backpack trip through the Pacific Crest Trail, I quickly realized why these are rated 'Staff Pick' by the Moosejaw team. These poles are ultra light and extremely durable. Trekking poles can reduce so much weight off your legs and provide extra stability when descending. One of the best advantages you will find with these is that they are 'Z' poles. I found that other hikers in our group had more common poles that simply extend to lengthen and twist to tighten. The problem that happens often with those types of poles is that they give out and if you are ascending and have weight on the pole you could go for a tumble.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low weight isn't everything The lightweight, folding nature of these poles compromises their durability to an extent that they didn't work for me. I am not a huge individual (160#), and I typically carry a pack of 20-30#. I went through three sets in six months, each set having one pole fail (carbon fiber or metal broken near upper joint) after 15-35 miles. BD was very good about replacements, but this model just isn’t tough. I'm not sure what use these were intended for, but obviously they're not up to moderate weight on steep, mountainous trails. The BD Alpine Carbon Cork, while heavier, has proved to be much more robust, and has handles that don't leave your hands stained black, to boot!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from lightweight and strong. these poles are great. they are super lightweight and very strong. make sure you get the right size as these are non adjustable. also i wish they had a little bit more ergonomic/angled handle like some of the more expensive (heavier) models do. also i wished that the foam went down a little further so that I could place my hands a little lower on steep climbs. they are fast to pull out and set up, and just as fast to take down. they pack up small so you can bring them on any distance of hike. great buy, only minor flaws, I'm happy with them

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Trekking poles I got a great deal on these from another unnamed website out of pure luck. I have used them for a couple of hiking trips in the ADK park and love them. They are extremely light and they are extremely durable. I weigh around 190 lbs. and come in at 6' 5" which makes me wary of putting all of my weight on trekking poles but these performed extremely well. They can compact in size great. The first time I hiked with them, I forgot they were in my pack. These are a great buy and definitely worth the money. They are big knee savers as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from VERY Light Trekking Poles I love this product. The Black Diamond Ultra Distance Trekking Poles are very light and easy to erect/store. I constantly use these while hiking. They offer great support - especially on more technical trails and crossing streams. ,,,,This is a very rugged product too. I have definitely put these poles through their paces in all types of terrain and they hold up great. ,,,,I would recommend these to any hiker!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Re-Review - Still the Greatest Poles Ever I just bought a pair of these poles as a gift for my fiance' after owning my own for about a year. I've put hundreds and hundreds of miles on these poles and they're as sturdy as the day I bought them. I was confused reading other comments about a lack of durability. In my experience these are great. In fact, I consider these my most important piece of gear after my backpack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These things are so light you'll forget you have them... ...until you realize that your knees aren't exploding after a day of 25miles on the trail. These things are the lightest, break down to the smallest, and deploy the easiest. Some people I know don't like to use poles because of the extra weight, but that argument doesn't hold water when it comes to these.
