The Half Dome helmet is a cool looking, low-profile helmet that combines a rigid shell with a webbing suspension system. Without obscuring your vision, the sculpted shell offers maximum head coverage and protection. The suspension system offers great comfort and contributes to good ventilation because there is ample room for heat to escape. To fit a variety of different head sizes, a foam-padded crown strap is easily adjusted using a Velcro closure system. You can take the Half Dome climbing anywhere on rock or ice and you might make it halfway home before you realize you're still wearing it.

Very good helmet, I bought one for myself about 6 months ago and use it every time that I go climbing or caving. no complaints, very light and comfy and after a while you even forget you have a helmet on.
Another great product from BD. Though my concussion/coma rate has stayed the same (still zero), I feel safe and Fonz-esque on the mountain in this helmet. Me and my GF both have one (all matchy-matchy in white), and love them. Pay attention to the size - they are adjustable, but you run the risk of looking like a dork if you get the wrong size. I'm a 'normal' male and I took the M/L.
While I can't attest to the protective functions of this helmet, since it's a protective piece of equipment, and fortunately I have not had any accidents with the helmet thus far... It is a comfortable helmet that has an easy click wheel to adjust to the size of your head quickly and easily. Also allows you to put the thing on and adjust accordingly because of the click wheel adjustment. This helmet comes in a variety of colors so you can color code gear accordingly or have options to what color of helmet you'd like, as opposed to the standard white and gray that most helmets have.
I have yet to regret replacing my Petzl Elios with the BD Half Dome. I considered one of the lighter weight foam lined ones, but figured it would be better for me to have something a bit more rugged since my climbing gear takes a beating. I admit that the fact the Half Dome came in drab gray was an influencing factor, but it's comfy (far more so than the Elios), easy to adjust, and sits fairly low on your head.
The basics are what make this helmet a great buy for me. Affordable, extremely durable, easy to adjust and a great fit. Very light with a low profile. Have yet to find a problem
This will protect you from most encounters with rocks, but it is no football helmet. It is pretty light and comfortable though and easy to adjust. Good helmet for the price.

This helmet has been protecting what IQ I have left, and does a great job of it. Fits well over beanie for cold ascents, or over a basebal cap for the hot summer days. Fits in a pack well, and is durable when being handed around the crag or even when getting biners dropped on your head from a not so competent climbing buddy. Or small rocks they kick on you do to your last mean comment. This helmet will protect you from all. Not so much floods or hurricanes but pretty much anything you could run of fall into while climbing.
Ive been using one half dome or another for over 10 years. The half dome helmet is light weight, not too hot, and very easy to adjust. It fits my huge head, even with a hat on. Ive used the half dome for everything from cragging, big walls in California, and alpine ice in the Cordillera Blanca and it hasnt let me down.If you want the lightest and most ventilated helmet out there, spend twice as much and get a meteor or the new vector helmet. But for this price, this helmet doesnt disappoint.
"A much needed upgrade on an older model."

Let's face it- unless you had a very regular-shaped head, the old Half Dome sucked. I had one and I gave it away. That's how much I hated it. You see, I have what can only be described as a dorsal fin running the entire top of my head. The old Half Dome ate into it and was very uncomfortable- like farting at the inlaws' dinner table uncomfortable. The new one is lighter, super comfy, and much more functional. I've worn it watching TV for the hell of it. I have yet to actually bash my head in the thing, but I have a feeling it would perform beautifully.
