"Great rope, but no center mark, and be sure to follow directions when uncoiling."
12/28/12
Beal makes great ropes. This one is light, strong, has a great hand, and a low impact force. This is a "1/2" rope (supposed to be used in pairs at all times.) However if you go to the Beal site you'll see they do acknowledge another use, as a single rope by EXPERT alpinists. (for light-and-fast ascents of less-than-vertical snow/glaciers.) After all, it's rated for 16 UIAA factor 2 falls. You can get a safe-to-use beal rope marker and mark the center yourself. When uncoiling for the first time, follow the included instructions, or you'll twist the rope and have to hang it from a tall place to untwist. After that you're golden. The rope does not twist any more than any other thin rope.
