"Really the only shirt you need" 04/28/13
This is the perfect baselayer for any temperature and activity. If you're like me, a Sasquatch, then you need something that wicks moisture before you are drowning in your own sweat. This shirt allows you to be warm, but never cross the threshold of profusely sweating. I recently snowshoed part of Sequoia Natl Park, and this was the only shirt I wore. Even above 10,000 feet with 4 feet of snow, this shirt will keep you warm and dry, no other layers needed.
"Light yet warm" 01/01/13
The RHO LTW top and bottom make a great base layers. The ant-microbial claims of wool are true. You can get stinky one day and the next morning they doesn't smell. I've been told that wool (unlike synthetics) can start to wick sweat vapor before it starts to coalesce into sweat beads While I am not an expert on this, I am certainly inclined to believe this based on empirical observation. I went on a moderate hike just the other day and I never noticed any sweat beads forming. At the end of the hike I was getting very warm and opened the zipper on the jersey and dumped a bunch of heat. All in all, I am very pleased. I've had both RHO LTW products now for 2 months and love them both.
"Best wool baselayer" 10/24/12
I've worn this zip up in balmy, summer weather, week long winter camping trips, and everything in between. It fits great on anyone with an athletic build and has longer arms to accomodate us gorillas! Put this under a regular jacket and you will be warm in snowy conditions. Wear this with a tshirt in the spring or fall and stay cozy! Very durable as well, despite the few holes I've picked up snagging it on rocks, trees, and barbed wire fences. I just picked up another one!
"Great baselayer, but not the best for cold conditions" 03/10/12
I thought the base-layer would resemble and function like Underarmour's Cold-gear. But it's actually more like Underarmour's Heat-gear, in my opinion. Took it to Jackson, Wyoming and it did its job. But my Cold-gear worked better. Except for when it got hot, then this was the base-layer of choice. It also looks better than the Underarmour products, in my opinion. I've had lots of compliments on it. I use it for rock climbing as well. I would recommend purchasing it if you can get it for under $120. A bit too pricey for what I don't think of as too high end of a product. $60 - 80 is where I would see it. I also washed it and it came out with those little cotton balls all over it.
"Warm, Wicking, Wow... so glad I broke down and bought it!!!" 01/02/12
Michigan winters can be unpredictable--cold/not cold, snow/not snow--but this mid-to-lightweight top takes the guess work out of my winter runs. I'll admit this is my first merino wool shirt, but after the Arcteryx Rho LT Zip helped my climb to the top of the Sierra Madres, I decided that the LTW could at least keep me warm back here in Michigan. And it didn't disappoint!!! It is just as form fitting and comfortable as its lighter-weight brethren and is just as flexible and giving. It wicks with the best and regulates my body temp on my coldest runs (with a lightweight windbreaker jacket over top). So comfortable I would recommend it for a winter marathon or on colder climbing days!!!
"Outstanding, Teryx does it again!" 01/19/11
I love this Baselayer! It works great under a jacket or sweatshirt during intense outdoor fun, or it works by itself if you're just running outside in the snow to get the mail. Keep in mind that it is tight, so if youre wearing more than a simple shirt underneath, it can get a little tight. The pocket is also great for energy bar storage.6'2 and 170, Medium fits great.I highly reccomend this to anyone who likes to stay warm!
"The Best" 12/28/10
This is the best for temperature control. In cold weather, this is surprisingly warm, but in hot weather it seems to be fairly lightweight, so you won't overheat (within reason of course). I don't know how wool does that. Also super comfy to sleep in. I'm 5'11 170 something and a size medium fits great.
"Awesome!" 12/16/10
I bought this for my BF and he absolutely loves it! It fits well beneath his hardshell, and provides the warmth he needs on these cold days. It breathes well, and is super soft and stretchy. It is also quite stylish - so he will be looking good at apres ski!
"Worth the $$$$" 08/16/10
This product is legittttttttPros: keep you nice and warm, made out of merino wool, nice cut, skin tight fit designed to keep you warm, can be worn as a base layer or stand alone because it looks very nice and fashionable. ppl say the arm run too long?? for me YES this is true the sleeve runs a bit long. This perfectly make sense because if the shirt shrink the sleeve will not be too short.Cons: for some reason the wool material from this company itch a bit. Well I guess wool will give you that kind of effect but compare to Smartwool brand base layer.
"Super warm and no bad smell!" 02/01/10
A late evening hike in -10°C and a night in the tent with -15°C and I didn't freeze a bit. My friends huge nose wasn't as lucky though...The woodfire smell from many hours by the fire went away in one quick wash (of the RHO top, not my friends nose...) and the top dries very quickly and is ready for the next hike :-)
