"The end of the line" 05/03/13
Early on, I learned that your rain jacket is one of the most important pieces of gear in your pack, no matter what you’re doing. I have ogled over this particular shell for years. Like 10. I finally decided to take the bath. $500 is an insane amount of money to spend clothes, unless you’re Bruce Wayne. But if this jacket is anything, it’s worth the price. Lightweight, roomy, trimmed with precision, it fits like a dream. I can’t stress it enough, putting this jacket on feels like getting away with something. Forget about getting wet, the Gortex Pro fabric won’t let you down. The features of this jacket make other jackets self conscience. Buy with the confidence of Bruce Wayne!
"Great lightweight shell with the style expected from Arcteryx" 04/22/13
I am 6'3" and 225 lbs. I ordered the XL and the fit is perfect - roomy enough for layering, but not too bulky. Love the cut and fit of Arcteryx! Already had two rain/sleet/snow storms and the jacket held up well! Haven't had it long enough to test durability, but the material seems sturdy yet light.
"Awsome Jacket!!!" 04/08/13
I've been looking for a new "Bad Weather" jacket for backpacking for some time now. The Arcteryx Beta AR fits beautiful. Even with an additonal fleece or down sweater underneath I have free movement of my arms. That's my complaint regarding many of the other jackets I've tried, so arm room. I also purchased the pants and they fit great. Expensive but worth it if you plan to use them for another 15 years like my last rain suit. Also, lighter and packs smaller than my previous jacket and pants.
"Trekking in Iceland? No Problem!" 01/27/13
I bought the Beta AR for my trip to Iceland, and I made the right choice. It was windy and rained a lot during the trek, and the jacket performed amazingly. It was in the 40s during day. I wore a base layer, a fleece, and the Beta AR as my outer layer. The jacket protected me from the rain and wind while breathing and not overheating. I'm about 5 feet 10 inches and 168 pounds and the medium is perfect. Warning, however, that the nightshade is more blue-gray, while the photo on the website make it appear gray-slate.
"Awesome shell, I love staying dry!" 01/14/13
I may or may not have spent too much money on this shell, but every penny was well worth it. The front pockets are deep, but they are just kind of ok, they will be great for when I am backpacking. Based on the way it acts when I am working up a sweat while shoveling and buildings igloo's, it is going to do me just fine in the backcountry! I bought the same jacket from a lesser distributor that was made in China, returned it for a better price here at moosejaw and I was pleasantly surprised to see the one they sent me was made here in North America (Canada), and actually fits a little better in the waist then the other one I sent back.
"Amazing hardshell" 01/02/13
This jacket is amazing in terms of waterproofness and ruggedness to take a beating. Despite bushwhacking and scraping over rocks, the exterior still looks like new. The zippers are very smooth and the drawstrings for the hood are easily tightened/loosened. Having the interioir pocket is also a big plus for keeping your phone and/or other electronics. I am 5'8 and 150lbs...the small is a perfect fit and enable me to layer up underneath.
". Best damn clothing purchase I ever made!" 12/29/12
Holly Moose poop, $475 for a jacket! Never thought I’d buy a jacket that cost this much, but wish I would have purchased it earlier. I live in Germany and while I’ve only had the jacket for a few weeks I have worn it in +10C to -10C, rain, snow, and in wind strong enough to shut down skiing in high alpine area. I simply layer up/down to my needs and was comfortable, wind never got through the jacket and zippers help regulate temps wonderfully. I’m 5’9’, 180 lbs and large fits awesome.
"This Jacket Delivers! Kick Butt, light weight, tough, Bullet Proof!! Favorite of all time!!" 12/19/12
This outstanding gore tex Jacket has delivered the goods and kept me warm and dry. Use an under layer with it when it is extra cold. The hood works very well and fits over my large cranium and helmet well. I have fallen on hard pack/ice and busted through the trees (finally there is some powder!) and this jacket is tough. The zippers, pit zips and cuff closures are bomb proof as well and function well in nasty wet conditions. I ride the Lichen color and it is smokin. The good news is that the extra money is so worth it and this is my favorite shell of all time. I have been skiing since I was 4 years old and I am 45 now. Enjoy this!
"Everthing you could want and more" 12/02/12
I was looking for a good quality Gore Tex jacket that allowed for some layering. This jacket exceeded my expectations. It fits very true to size (6-0 190 and a Large is perfect) and there is enough room in the shoulders and sleeves to move without the jacket shifting too much. I am sure this will be my new all-around jacket.
"Best Jacket Ever!!" 11/26/12
This jacket is by the far the best jacket for any weather. It looks great on and feels great. It keeps me warm and dry when the weather is bad and I am hiking or just on the go. I would never want another jacket, this is fits all my needs. Love this product!!
"awesome jacket" 09/21/12
this is the jacket i reach for when the weather is rough and i'm running out the door. It's light and built right. i am 6.1 215 pounds and i have a large. the cut seems to be a bit slimmer than other brands but i can still layer a little. I feel the fit is perfect for me. length is perfect. If you like a longer jacket, they have other models that can accommodate. This jackets been hit by trees and bounced off rocks and it's still in one piece. Still waterproof.
