Chest / Bust - Measure around your chest / bust, holding the measuring tape under your armpit.

Waist - Measure around the natural waist, which is often the narrowest part of your waist.

Hip - Measure around your hips at the widest part.

Sleeve Length - With your arms in a slightly bent position, measure from the center of the back of your neck, along the length of your arm, to the wrist.

Inseam / Pant Length - From a standing position, measure from your crotch to your ankle.

Head Circumference - Measure the full circumference around the widest part of your head.

Hand Length - Measure from the tip of your middle finger to the base of the palm.

Hand Width - Measure the circumference of your hand around the knuckles, excluding the thumb.

• Please note that all the info provided above refers to body measurements, and NOT the dimensions of the garment.

Next to Skin Fit - These snugly-fitting garments are made with stretch fabrics to fit next to the skin to enhance moisture management and thermal efficiency. Garments in this fit category when constructed using Arc'teryx's heavier-weight AR and SV fabrics also perform very well as mid layer pieces, and users should consider selecting a larger size to accommodate a base layer underneath if the intention is to use this layering system as a mid layer option.

Trim Fit - Trim-fitted garments share the motion-friendly traits with Arc'teryx "Athletic" fit garments, but are patterned with lower volume for reduced bulk. These close-fitting pieces layer well under other garments.

Athletic Fit - This is the "Arc'teryx Standard" fit. These complete patterns utilize anatomical shaping and gussets to enhance motion by minimizing excess bulk. Easy layering under or over each item extends seasonal versatility and comfort.

Relaxed Fit - Relaxed fit garments rely on higher volume patterns and a reduced amount of articulation to offer roomy mobility.

Expedition Fit - Cut roomier than the Arc'teryx Athletic fit and suitable for winter/extreme conditions, Expedition (XPD) fit garments are cut larger to accommodate multiple layers without binding or restricting movement.

• You can find the fit type and additional fit info for Arc'teryx styles in the product description FEATURES and SPECIFICATIONS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ridiculously Awesome! Fits like a glove (S - 5'8, 155 pds). Looks great – sleek, but not restrictive. Feels like you are wearing a shell that will withstand whatever weather can throw at you. I snowboarded last week in the northeast - the temp was 20F at base, and 7-10F at peak w/ 30mph wind. I didn't feel anything. I could tuck my entire face in the faceguard including the tip of my nose. I could see everything with minimal peripheral vision lost. I was wearing a MH base & Arc'Teryx Aphix! Expensive, but worth it.,,,,The bottom of the jacket is curved - front is waist length, but back is hip length. I like it now – helps when sitting on cold lifts. ,,,,Looks great, feels great, performs great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Buy a hard shell that could easily last for 10 years Initially I was hesitated between buying a hard shell jacket like alpha SV or a rain jacket like Patagonia Torrentshell for my rainier trip. I was extremely glad that I eventually bought this alpha SV jacket. The jacket just separated me from the constant rain mixed with snow that pours forever during spring season on Rainier. My favorite feature of this jacket is that it can withstand from relative hard scratches. On rainier someone once accidentally stepped on my alpha SV jacket and hard shell pants with climbing double boots!!! But the jacket stayed intact after the accident, but my hard shell pants was left with an inch-long tear. It's totally a bombshell jacket. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money This is one of my most expensive pieces of gear, and I haven't had to use it often. But when it starts raining, I can throw it on, stay dry, and feel great. It's lightweight, breathes well, fits over whatever layers I have on underneath, and has a great snug hood (that also fits over a helmet). I've had zero problems with this jacket, and have been impressed by how well it keeps water out of the zippers. There is a video somewhere of a guy wearing this jacket in the shower and staying completely dry. That's how it feels wearing this jacket - completely waterproof no matter what.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Jacket - Worth The Price Been using this shell for several years now - backcountry skiing/snowboarding. Fantastic fit and functionality. The cut is perfect for all movement - pivots from the shoulders, elbows and waist are free and never result in exposure. Bombproof! Incredibly breathable while being completely 100% sealed from the elements. So far has passed any and all tests that have been thrown at it. This is an extremely expensive jacket, but it has already outlasted my last outerwear shell from a different company, which was roughly half the price. I figure this is about a 10-year jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The One Believe the hype. I absolutely love this shell, wherever I am going the SV goes with me. I wear a large and it has enough room to layer comfortably with a heavy fleece, softshell, or even a down jacket like the Marmot Zeus. The cut is sufficient enough to permit full range of movement even with a pack on, and the hood is easy to utilize and adjust with minimal effort. Excellent construction and sewing, typical of Arc'Teryx gear, as well as the high end price, but it's worth it knowing the shell you purchased is going to last a long long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Will read like every other review for this jacket... nothing short of flawless Do yourself a favor, hoss...Buy this jacket. PERIOD. Arcteryx is indisputably the top of the line when it comes to manufacturers (by a long their own league) and this jacket is their claim-to-fame hardshell. Complete with Gore-Tex's riveting ever-developing technology, it is virtually weightless and you can stand in a shower for decades without getting the slightest bit of moisture on your person.... be it from the shower or from sweat vapor accumulation. Indeed, without a doubt this is the very best hardshell money can buy... and worth every penny. The inconveniences of less-apt hardshells (bulkiness hindering seamless movement, blocked peripheral vision, restriction with layering) are 100% non-issues with the Alpha SV. Buy. This. Jacket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Punches mother nature in her grill Seriously, stop reading reviews and buy this already. It's legendary. ,,,,Fit, A+, Durability, A+, Weatherproofing, A+, Dope Colors, A+ The attention to detail on this jacket is typical of Arc'Teryx, and the redesign definitely improved the SV. I've spent a lot of time in bad weather wishing I had my hot chocolate with marshmallows...but this jacket keeps such silly thoughts at bay while you bask in your dryness. Pair it with an Arc'Teryx Gamma MX jacket if you like warmth, style and freedom of movement (and speech).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from No hand warmer pockets! I totally agree with other reviewer's adjectives such as armored fortress, bomb proof, tough, durable, etc.,,The jacket fits great, cuts the wind exceedingly well, and at times was the only needed layer.,,,,My one complaint is that it has no hand warmer pockets! (minus one star!),,This past week I was camped high on an exposed ridge with cold wind sucking the heat away. Even with merino wool gloves I found my fingertips getting numb. Simple pockets to get my hands out of the wind would have solved the problem. ,,
