The Men's Alpha SL Pant by Arcteryx is the lightest and most packable waterproof/breathable pant. Highly articulated knees and seat allow greater mobility without binding or lifting, and angled lower leg zips improve moisture protection and snag resistance while open for venting.

Very compact, lightweight Gore-Tex fabric with Paclite fabric technology body reinforced with N150p-x Gore-Tex with Paclite fabric technology in high wear areas
Trim leg fit reduces crampon snags and allows for better layering
Full-length side zippers allow easy entry and rapid ventilation front fly zip
Dual low profile waist adjusters allow for perfect fit and comfort when paired with a harness or pack waistbelt
Hem drawcords, reinforced instep patches, stowable boot lace hooks

"Great snow or rain pant to throw over a base layer." 03/05/13

I have used these a few times already. With a light base layer underneath they kept me very comfortable while being blasted by wind and ice along a ridgeline. I discovered the little hook by accident that clips them to your bootlaces to hold the the front of the pant leg in place. I might even try foregoing gators in light snow and try that feature. Very comfortable. Great for backcountry skiing, snowshoeing or hiking in the rain. Very lightweight, I will be packing these as my rain pants in the future as well as wearing them as my primary snow pants from now on.

"Awesome, extremely functional, and definitely worth the money." 10/13/12

I bought these to use as part of my rain gear for hiking. I feel that they were definitely worth the money. They are super lightweight and can easily roll up small enough to fit inside the jacket's hood. They are very well-made and extremely durable. Each of the legs have metal hooks to clip onto your bootlaces and hold your pant legs in place.

"Amazon or Ice - gets the job done" 12/28/11

They may cost more than other rain pants, but at least you know they'll keep you dry. Light weight, side zips to help you get in and out, and an elastic waist to help blend with your ever changing layers. Use them in the Amazon or on a WI5 ice route - solid protection.

"If you got the Alpha SL jacket, you got to have this." 12/26/11

Light, easy to pack, I keep them in the backpack everyday. Say good bye to umbrella. I love the carbide one, good color to match my red jacket. I have used them for more than a year. No wear, no tear.

"Exceptional Pants!" 09/12/11

I bought these just before my recent Alaska trip. I was there for a week and it poured rain every day with gusts of high wind. These pants fit comfortably over my jeans and were easy to get on with or without boots on first. Great when hiking around in the pouring rain, on a boat with heavy rain and high wind hitting me, or even sitting on a seat that had a puddle of water on it for a couple hours on an offroading kart run through the mountains! They also didn't get too hot when walking into one of the shops. They breathed very well. I also liked the Carbide color. It's nice to see some rain pants that aren't black. These pants performed beyond my expectations!

"Great Outer Shell!" 11/09/10

These pants are very lightweight, packable, and impermeable. The short side zippers allow for them to be easily rolled up or just well ventilated. On cool, damp, windy days, I wear them as my only layer. I do most of my hiking in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest, and the weather is anything but consistant. These pants keep me dry.Do note that these pants will get plenty sweaty inside in warmer wet weather, and that they aren't that easy to get off over boots. They are great pants though, and quite tough.

"100% awesome!" 03/04/10

I bought these pants when they were one sale and I love them. They are super light and compactable but very strong. I am a hard size to fit into, im 6'2 and 150 pounds so i bought the medium longs and they fit great and have extra room to layer under for winter. I used them not only as rain pants but my outer shell for winter climbing, mountaineering, and cold outside fun. Overall these pants are worth the money and for me i don't need pro-shell in my pants, these are plenty strong and i again i love the weight and how small they get down to save space in the bag.

"Awesome lightweight waterproof pants." 01/30/10

I love these pants I through them in my bag in case it rains while I am on a hike in Washington so I have use them often. They are so light weight that I don't even know they are in my bag which is great but even better they keep me completely dry. I have always bought Arcteryx products and have never been disappointed.

"THERE'S ALREADY A RIP AND ALL I DID WAS GET IT WET ON MODERATE HIKES!!!!!" 08/15/09

THE RIGHT LEG ZIPPER MOLDING TO THE WATERPROOF FABRIC THAT MAKES UP THE LEG HAS SEPARATED AFTER I USED THE PANTS IN RAINY WEATHER 3 TIMES. I'VE NEVER FELL ON IT, NEVER SWAM WITH IT, NOR HAVE I PUNCTURED IT. RAINY WEATHER MODERATE HIKES AND EXPOSURE TO SAUNA HEAT AND THE MOLDING HAS COME OFF. NOW, I NEED TO SPEND MONEY TO GET IT FIXED!!! DISAPPOINTED. HOWEVER, THE PANTS ARE VERY LIGHT AND VERY WATERPROOF!!!

"Great fit that eliminates the days of clamy raingear." 05/23/08

Best rain pant I've owned. The Goretex Paclite fabric is so light and packable that these go with me even if I'm not expecting weather. I pair these with the Beta SL jacket for the perfect summer rain suit. I have a 35 waist and opted for the large, and feel like that was the right size. I can comfortable layer them over shorts or jeans and they still move very well.

"top of the line pants with custom made stitching" 04/27/08

would like pockets, either inside or out. pricey, but the quality of the waterproof pants are evident. super light, and i weigh 185lbs & the medium size is perfect.
